Fears mount for future of India’s Afghan silk route plans

WISH IT WAS TRUE
but the war drums are still ringing in Saudi, Israeli and American camps. the Neo Cons want it bombed for the sake of its two most important allies in the region

Anyway Iran is not a pariah for India, even in Ahmadinejad days. Almost 10% of Indian oil used to come from Iran even when Ahmadinejad was helm. The problem is new dispensation in Afghanistan that is bit antagonistic towards India. Now does it make sense for India to spend billions in building a port in Iran when Afghanistan is not that receptive to India's overtures?

As US pull out, China and Pakistan are beginning to help on Afghan issue, no worry.

China assumes leading role in Afghan reconciliation
As US exits, China takes on Afghanistan role

China and Pakistan will try to help however Afghanistan will remain too lawless for such a route ever to exist. The only way it would work is if the country had a rock solid police and surveillance.

Right now on those long dusty roads the trucks carrying silk would be robbed at gun point.

It is a complete non starter.

It would take Afghanistan decades just to be at a stage when they can handle transit of international trade.

What would be insurance costs of businesses trying to insure goods in transit inside Afghanistan?

These costs are are unnecessary expense which can be used to take a longer more secure route.

You mean to tell me all that investment India made in Afghanistan and Iran was based on assumption that Karzai faithful Indian Dog will stay in power for good.:alcoholic:

I mean to say that with US leaving and Taliban returning to power may not be good omen for Pakistan.

whatever Happens in Afghanistan has to happen according to the wishes of the people of Afghanistan, whether we like it or not.
and dismissing and alienating the biggest ethnic group representing about 50% of Afghans was a dire mistake. as Musharraf puts it
A military victory was not converted into a Political victory. right after the fall of taliban... the Pashton Afghans were not only sidelined but punished by the racist Northern Alliance and their most loathed antagonist i.e. Ahmed shah Meshood's portraits were shoved down their throats everywhere.
these warlords even before taliban were involved in the civil war and responsible for killing so many people and Americans wanted the distinct population groups to suddenly forget that and accept the Northern alliance thugs as their true saviours just because they were American allies.

like we know, rest is history and Taliban used that discrimination of Pashtons to their advantage to a point that they even became popular in the northern parts (which never happened even during their rule).

In short? whatever happens to Afghan.. just live with it, if people want Taliban then dont impose your will because you will loose. Americans are washing off their hands and going
you dont have deeper pockets or stronger military.

We did.
From 89' after Soviet (and American) withdrawal to 02' (American return) *dot dot Kashmir insurgency dot dot*
We have no interest in letting that happen EVER again.
apart from Taliban era. your agency and diplomats had been hyper active in instigating the Baloch insurgencies and terrorism in KPK province. greater Balochsintan and Pakhtonistan was a join venture of KGB and RAW and the Host Khad agency

toy bombs, Hammer group, targeted assassinations, ethnic terrorism, blowing up of infrastructure or killing moderate Baloch leaders has been a "go to plan" since the 50s to this date.

But wait, we didn't have those 7 million cansoolate in Afghan back then. Are you saying that having 7 million cansoolate is absolutely unneccessary for spawning terrorism.

Funny how no one, not even the all-weathers buy this shit.

Can you enlighten us about what happened to Mir Muzzaffar Jamali my dear friend. I am trying to learn of the various tribes. Jamali and Jam are believed to be the most patriotic tribes followed by Lasharis... any data you can share will be valuable. @DESERT FIGHTER you too.

Actually its already happening. 60-70% of Afghanistans army is made up of non pashtuns when pashtuns make up 42% of the population.

* So Iranian Chahbahar is 'too expensive'
* Afghanistan is too 'dangerous'
* Pakistan is too 'hostile'

Modi's genius is manifesting itself.
@Irfan Baloch @Horus @haviZsultan
Yup thats true, indians have been too ambitious. The one realistic way for them to develop is through Pakistan and for that they need to have special or atleast good relations with us.......However we need to play our cards right.

There is a out of box proposal in my mind that we should stop that Wagah border route and let iran take central position in this chahbahar saga with india and afghanistan.........This way we may be able to compensate the iran-pak gas deal cancellation which has 'decreased' our relations with iran. We can have some secret diplomatic meetings with iran in this regard and a deal can be signed in this regard so that iran recognizes this move...........

By this way our relations and specially trust with iran will grow which is very crucial for pakistan in the times to come because of economic, strategic and land routes reason because Iran is our gateway towards europe through Turkey and through Azerbaijan to caucus region to russia as an alternative route bypassing China, CARS and crucially Afghanistan.......

As far as Chahbahar port and its possible competing with gwadar is concern then its still a long way to go since by this way indians will have to still use the sea route which is very expensive in short to medium run......This will help us to contain the indian rise which is also very crucial for pakistani rise........

Also the most important thing is that by this way we will be tomorrow in a commanding position because indians, afghans and other CARs nations will be forced to play by our rules in order to 'tempt' us (just like how we had been doing since past decade) to give them routes which is by far cheapest of all. This will be the time when we can have diplomatic upper hand over india something which we have been struggling to have since our independence.

This move can out maneuver any indian-US vision for the future of the region and all those anti west entities concern with this region will appreciate this move like China, Russia in the long run.

This way however in short run it may seem to have been against pakistan but in long run it will prove to be a goldmine if we play our cards right and must not undermine our own position in the region.

What do u think?

One question just, just one question. How Pak contain Indian rise? And how Indian rise affecting Pak rise? Anyone closed your nations hand?

cant really pin down loyalty and patriotism by clans and tribes
Kulpar Bughtis who make up the biggest portion of the Bughtis are thankful and supportive of not just the Pak Army but specifically Musharraf for freeing them from bonded labor and harassment from other sub clans

Mughis are just another and following video is of one of my class fellows who died long ago in Capt Ali Magsi in Siachin his father also retired as a Colonel. again .. just being in the military doenst mean you are the only loyal patriot. there are countless common people all around Pakistan who are no less loyal to the state than anyone else.

Modi's genius is manifesting itself.

With a few million investment, they were dreaming of building routes and economic corridor in the Iran-Afghan region, bypassing Pakistan. I guess, someone took a real time tour of the lands, and got a nasty shock.

It's one thing to plan from the safety of New Delhi. But totally another when you have commit resources in an unstable region.
