I totally agree with you. But we need to make up our minds about this all. We should either be allied with the US or be entirely neutral in all her adventures. The problem with us is that, willingly or unwillingly, we became a part of the US's War OF Terror.
Now, if we choose to be entirely in the US camp, we will see a lot of benefits albeit with some loss of face and pride. This may be a no-issue, the US is THE sole super power as of today and deserves the respect. She treats other regional powers the same way, take for example Britain, Germany etc.
On the other hand, if we go for pride, which I am all for, then we need to be entirely neutral. We make it abundantly clear to the US that we will neither be pushed around nor will we be blackmailed. This needs to be followed up with some intense proactive diplomacy around the globe and some serious reaction to all US pressure tactics including imposition of realistic charges and duties for GLOC & ALOC allowed to the US forces in Afghanistan. However, for this we need to tighten our belts and be prepared to sweat it out for a long long time and the only way to come out of it would be with a decent, moral and somewhat honest Government, Bureaucracy and Military Management.
