The definition of a district fall and district under control comes as such.

In a district if the govt center is under the control of the insurgents then the district is under the control of the insurgents and has fallen. If the district center is under the control of govt then the district is classified as under the govt control.

Bcz of this loose and pathetic definition the actual condition of war on ground and actual gains are often not the reality of happening.

Let's take an example.

Sheikhupura located 40 km away from lahore has a population of 3.3 mil and land of 5960 km² and is divided into five tehsils.

Now this district is vast with villages left and right yet its district center aka administrative center could be called only a radius of 5km.

Now a districts administrative structure is often close by. They are district courts, district management offices, district police administration offices e.t.c

As long as the above stands the district stands.

Now let's take an example. Let's say that an insurgent group has taken over nearly 4 of the tehsils of sheikhupura and on the gates of the urban city yet the district administration has not fallen and are fighting them. The road to lahore, Faisalabad, Sargodha and Gujranwala are all under insurgents control. In this situation despite over 5000km² of the territory under insurgents control the district would be deemed under government control bcz the center has not fallen.....

Now let's reverse. Let's say Gujranwala had fallen under insurgents control and the insurgents through Gujranwala highway stormed and captured the city center. They only have the city center. Nearly 4.5 tehsils and nearly all the villages are under govt control yet the district will be deemed to have fallen.

You see In scenario one despite the insurgents controlling nearly all the district, the district is deemed to be under the govt control.

But in scenario insurgents take a boastful victory. Despite having nearly no control in the district.

Now with that in mind the scenario of the war changes drastically would you not say.

Web of lies we weave behind definitions and words to sleep soundly at night and boast highly at day.

You have generalized the situation. The ground reality in Afghanistan cannot be simulated in Pakistan for the sake of even an example. The North overall is controlled largely by Taliban groups. In your example above the comparison could hold if you imagine the anti state elements control the whole of area from Jehlum to Lahore with heavy presence in almost all the districts. They have primary presence in the villages and Tehsils. So when they want to make their presence felt they march to the District center and burn the flag down announcing its fall. This is symbolism of their ability and manpower in the Tehsils and villages of the said District.

So yes. #USneedsToDoMore

It would have been very convenient for US and Afghan forces (if any) if the location was bordering Pakistan - BLAME PAKISTAN.
Being in central Afghanistan they will have to sort out their own mess now.

The irony is we have had up to 200 scumbags attacking our border posts with all guns blazing then disappearing back into Afghanistan without US, NATO or anyone else present in that country even noticing, yet many a times, whole wedding parties have been obliterated by the US only because one of the wedding party member traditionally fired in the air.... America can stay in Afghanistan till the end of century but until it acknowledges Pakistan's role and addresses the local issues without the mentality of might is right, things will only get worse.

the Afghan Ambassador in US sounds like a Gen Rashid Dostam's Luetanent or from the former communist regime
the venom coming out of his mouth against Pakistan was such intensity in a recent Washington conference that an American senator had to contradict him.

the main issue with ongoing war in Afghanistan is the racism , brutality and corruption of the Northern alliance ruling thugs to the general Afghan population and Pashtons in particular. no amount of ranting against Pakistan will bring peace in Afghanistan as long as 50% of the population is antagonised and marginalised by the druglord and warlord thugs that continue to con the Americans and rest of the international community and are self serving at the expense of Afghan population. giving rise to the serge of Afghan taliban but also ISIS as well

the Northern alliance are great in conning the world community. they ave no regard for Afghan population. they only harass the public and smuggle the funds out of the country in such large and brazen scale that despite being caught they continue that by shouting and ranting against Pakistan and hence they will support every terrorist if he is attacking Pakistan
Latif Ullah Mehsood of TTP was snatched by Americans from the Afghan intelligence and instead of being embarrassed and ashamed, the Karzai and his fellow scums started protesting and ranting against Americans for taking their guest from them.
they will continue to exist as long as Americans are willing to listen to them and the Indians for their mutual hatred for Pakistan. no wonder many Pakistani backed peace initiatives have been sabotaged by assassinations of negotiating Taliban members bringing the Americans and Taliban back to war.
