What's new

Fanhansa Siegerflieger lands in Berlin

as already explained that Hansa does not come from sanskrit. Lufthansa is a german airline with a pure german name.

And Currywurst is disgusting btw

That's not even curry but the German sausage.

Then do explain why there is a damn goose (flying one at that) as the symbol of Lufthansa?

Care to dive into that bit of logic?

Its wiki page says that Lufthansa's symbol (bird) isn't a goose but a crane !

Yes they do...but its not exactly what I would call delectable...

On the other hand...the Japanese have mastered the art of curry rice...I literally eat it every other day in the winter...amazing is one of the words to describe it!

If german is derived from Sanskrit, obviously you will have some words that overlap identically...

Now we cant sit here and play chicken and egg scenario to satisfy egos...

Hanse means group in German. It has nothing to do with Sanskrit. It oes not in the closest have any connection to goose.

Alright...not gonna fight you on this since you seem pretty irate over this...

At least you can agree that Luft in german and sanskrit means aerial...which is a fact even you cant deny...

@Indischer - So Siegfried Kumar have you found your Brunnhilde yet ?

Or are you going to import a Mrs. from India ? :o:

Nah mate...I'm one of those solitary average Joes. Neither do I go out of my way to earn some female company, nor do girls find me worthwhile to engage in idle talk. :sarcastic: No plans for marriage any time soon......in fact, the later it is in my life, the better.:mamba:

How late are you in life right now ? :what:

And what in heaven's name do you do for a living ?

What are you doing in Germany ? :undecided:

I've always wanted to visit Germay; my Grandpa held Germany & the German People in pretty high regard especially after he visited Germany after the War (He was in the British Indian Army) ! :)

Just explain to me why the guild would have the symbol of a bird especially one that closely resembles a goose..

A crane looks nothing like a goose

The crane is a powerful symbol in germany. Lufthansa, as the national carrier, is often simply called The Crane, when media speak about her.

And Luft means not flying in germany. Luft simply means air.

A very nice gesture of the national carrier.

I wrote wrongly...Not Goose...Hansa in sanskrit is a Swan...considered a king of birds and quite majestic...

I dont know why goose was stuck in my head....

and I corrected myself in the post you quoted...Luft is aerial...Not specifically flying in both german and sanskrit..
