Well growing up , Qawali used to show up now and then in news or movies here and there but Qawali has always been integral part of Pakistan's cultural identity.

Fast forward 2014-2015, I found myself driving in colleagues car, he put in some Qawali DVD while in North America and the talent was apparent these artist have. The word and depth needless to saw I enjoyed the drive and song from Pakistan greatly

Fast forward 2016 I was with my family enjoying PPL broadcast and then Sabir Shakir was coming in TV channels with the group promoting the PPL league games , I recal one event there was I think game between India vs Pakistan and he sang the Muqa muqa song just with out any music support

Just for few hours stuff coming out of Pakistan was not about idiotic war in Afghanistan or Terrorist, for moment or two we forgot about corruption problem in society and enjoy the Artist and the TV shows and PPL

It was nice feeling ....Mr Sabir in few minutes made me enjoy a wonderful day with my family watching tv broadcast enjoy his singing and TV shows while watching PPL

I had perception of Qawal as being uncultured but on TV shows he spoke about his family and general topics and it showed that he was quite a polite and decent person, family oriented

Then all of sudden now we hear someone just out of blue for no apparent reason assassinated someone's son or someone's father or brother

Just few days back the man was singing praising songs to appreciate life and god

Really makes you wonder....

As a common man it really pushes your buttons and makes you angry

And I will admit the whole incident made me very angry at current state of affairs

No he was not killed because he was practicing sufism (don't know exactly how one practices sufism) though I strictly believe him being a normal Muslim. Morons who are linking it to sufism are the biggest ill of Pakistani society, hateful little cowards who would score points over anyone's death.
