General Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Mohd Asghar Khan, the Chief of the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) and of Pakistani origin, recently made a heartfelt visit to his ancestral village, Beer, in District Haripur, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. His visit, which lasted two hours, included paying respects at the graves of his ancestors and reconnecting with family members who still reside in the area.

  • Ancestral Roots: General Asghar Khan was born on December 26, 1965, in Selangor, Malaysia, but has deep familial ties to the Tanawal region of Pakistan. His grandfather, Malik Qalandar, and other relatives were originally from this village.
  • Significant Activities: During his visit, he offered prayers (Fatiha) at the graves of his grandfather, grandmother, and uncle. He also took time to visit family homes and engage with relatives, highlighting the personal significance of this trip.
  • Official Protocol: His arrival was marked by full official protocol, including heightened security measures provided by the Pakistan Army and local police. He traveled by helicopter to ensure a smooth visit.
  • Context of Visit: General Khan's trip coincided with his participation in the IDEAS 2024 Defense Exhibition in Karachi. The Government of Pakistan made special arrangements for his visit at his personal request.
