What's new

Faisalabad International Airport

Its already a very profitable destination because all the western and central Punjab population is catered by Faisalabad Int. Airport. By the way the first airline who started their operations for Faisalabad were Fly Dubai and Air Arabia. later on Qatar Airways started flight operations for Faisalabad. Then Gulf came into scene. Now expansion is in full swing and near completion after this phase next step is to increase the runway and taxi way for bigger aircraft like 777. After Runway extension, Turkish, Saudia Airlines and Eithad will start flights from Faisalabad. Now Qatar operated all 7 days flight for Faisalabad. Same as Fly dubai operated daily for Faisalabad, Gulf Air operated for 5 days and so as Air Arabia. and All the current airlines operating for Faisalabad are getting huge business from this airport. PIA and Shaheen also operating flights for int. destinations specially for KSA from Faisalabad Int.

and Just recently in last fiscal year Faisalabad Int. Airport earned profit of more than 500 Million PKR. It is the great boost for an airport which was in loss and in next year it earned 500+ million PKR profit. And where there were only couple of domestic flights in a week and since last two years there are almost 100+ weekly International and domestic flights for Faisalabad going in and out. although the ratio between Int. Flights and domestic flights would be 8:1.
Nice info dear, thanks for sharing the details.

Just to correct you on one point, there currently are 37 domestic/intl flights per week. Two days have six flights, five days have 5 flights each. Making it a total of 12 + 25 = 37 flights per week. :)

That is the story on ALL of our airports for sure. Staff training is a must, together with strict policies against VVIP culture. However these alone wont help as the infrastructure is VERY important in this particular case. You need good airports and ground facilities to attract more airlines and only that will be good for business that will help the situation to improve further. The major problem with Fsd was a poor building and facilities as the staff was same everywhere anyway. :P However, i do agree that this particular aspect needs to be improved as well.

I remember once I was traveling to Karachi and had to go under all checks and security that one goes through while traveling on an international flight just because the staff did not know what to do with us.

Count your blessings that they dint asked for your passport (and stamped it)

Wasay on a serious note, i traveled to Germany via Fsd the year before last. The airport sucked but really LOVED the perks of traveling from home. The flight wa delayed due to fog (as usual) and we just drove back home, slept again for 5 hours and then went back at around 12 in noon to catch my flight.

Now compare this with what usually happens with us poor people at Isb or Lahore (Isb in particular).

Will be traveling again from fsd soon (though for this time i have booked via Lhr already :P)

Dear @Arsalan what i mentioned in the message was Airport Manager words and i quoted even less what he mentioned. For original story see the attached news referring to actual story which is only a month old.

:( Bhai i live like 15 min drive away. What i told you was from the flight chart on display at the airport scheduling daily arrivals and departures for the whole week. I took a picture of it as well but have lost it since.

Also in the link you shared dear they say 128 flights operating but do not mention if it is per month or week!
128 per month will mean around 32-33 per week which is close to what i was saying. Plus as i said, i was just quoting what was displayed at the airport. Plus it was about two months back and i am being told that 6-7 flights have increased per week so it is now a total of around 45-46 as per my info.

I'll be traveling from fsd this year, lets see what happens :P
chlain best of luck!
You have find a bright sunny day :P

OR

At least the opportunity to come back to home and sleep a few more hours before your flight actually arrives :D

Dear Faisalabad is also my city i born, grown up there. So i am also very conscious about my city. Well let me give you the details:
For Saturday:
there are 9 arrival and 9 departed flights so total 18
For Sunday: 6 arrival and 6 departed, total 12
For Monday: 6 arrival and 6 departed, total 12
For Tuesday: 10 arrival and 10 departed, total 20
For Wednesday: 7 Arrival and 7 Departed, total 14
For Thursday: 10 arrival and 10 departed, total 20
For Friday: 3 arrival and 3 departed. total 6
So one flight mean either arrival or departed. So in this mean now count the flights per week.
Currently now Qatar, Gulf, Air Arabia, Fly Dubai (Emirates also shared code with fly dubai for Fsd), Serence, Shaheen and PIA are operating from FSD.
Fly dubai is operating 2 flights daily from dubai to fsd.

Was counting arrival and departure as ONE flight :) (even though these are two operations so yeah, you may be right counting them as two) .
