@gambit
why r u so worked up? my post was not meant to bash usa. my assumption was based on the pic

The Army’s experimental hypersonic missile just exploded four seconds after takeoff - The Washington Post
The Pentagon released no images or videos of the test, but the Web site for the radio station KMXT 100.1 FM in Alaska posted a photograph of the explosion that it reported was taken from about 12 miles away. Witnesses told the station that the rocket carrying the weapon lifted off but turned nose down and quickly self-destructed or exploded after hitting the ground.

Shxt happen, I guess. Same as the Galileo GNSS, but this one look like a worse fukc up.

Chinese already mastered this technology successfully and US tech explodes on liftoff..
The empire is indeed at it's end.
Wut......the US is the only country to have successfully tested both a hypersonic glide vehicle and hypersonic air breathing scramjet. It's just a matter of time before we deploy hypersonic weapons.

You mean like when a Chinese rocket turned sideways immediately after launch and wiped out a nearby village was not bad enough ?

you are a pretty immature old Nam man.

They try to copy Chinese WU-14 but in the end only make themselves like clowns. A nation that sends astronauts in Russian Soyuz.

"It came back down on the range complex," she said. "Fortunately, no people on the ground were injured. There was damage, but I'm not sure of the extent of it at this time." -- Maureen Schumann

looks like the range complex was destroyed
The entire complex was destroyed and all the generals, scientists and engineers killed. Just like your typical day in the Indian navy.

Experimental U.S. hypersonic weapon destroyed seconds after launch| Reuters

By David Alexander and Andrea Shalal, WASHINGTON Mon Aug 25, 2014 7:19pm EDT

(Reuters) - A hypersonic weapon being developed by the U.S. military was destroyed four seconds after its launch from a test range in Alaska early on Monday after controllers detected a problem with the system, the Pentagon said.

The weapon is part of a program to create a missile that will destroy targets anywhere on Earth within an hour of getting data and permission to launch.

The mission was aborted to ensure public safety, and no one was injured in the incident, which occurred shortly after 4 a.m. EDT at the Kodiak Launch Complex in Alaska, said Maureen Schumann, a spokeswoman for the U.S. Defense Department.

"We had to terminate," Schumann said. "The weapon exploded during takeoff and fell back down in the range complex," she added.

The incident caused an undetermined amount of damage to the launch facility, Schumann said.

It was a setback for the U.S. program, which some analysts see as countering the growing development of ballistic missiles by Iran and North Korea but others say is part of an arms race with China, which tested a hypersonic system in January.

Riki Ellison, founder of the nonprofit Missile Defense Advocacy Alliance, said he did not think Monday's failure would lead to the program's termination. "This is such an important mission and there is promise in this technology," he said.

He said officials aborted the mission after detecting a fault in the computers.

Anthony Cordesman, a defense analyst at the Center for Strategic and International Studies think tank, said the technology was best suited for use against smaller, less-developed countries with missiles.

"The United States has never assumed that these ... are going to be systems that you can use against a power like China by themselves," he said. "For a country like Iran or North Korea, they could be a very significant deterrent."

James Acton, a defense analyst at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, said the Pentagon had never been clear about the mission for the weapon, with some viewing it as an effective tool against terrorists and others seeing it as a counter to China or Iran and North Korea.

These things happens. All the countries who has done rocket testing has their share of failures.

and i said: "looks like the range complex was destroyed"
and i also posted a pic

your english is no way bad, your english is way better than mine so i hope you read the comprehend the above lines. besides, the missile was launched and within 4 seconds, americans found an anomaly and aborted the mission, indeed, incredible! within four seconds, they found anomaly and aborted the mission allowing the rocket falling down on the complex, yet without any harm to the range complex particularly the launch pad ~ !

I doubt that. The Chinese already have the lead in this tech. They will deploy it much earlier than US.
