Expensive Chinese vaccines stir hornet's nest in Bangladesh, Sri Lanka

Vaccines are not the only way to gain "herd immunity".

In the UK, in the largest and longest study done to date of nearly 10 months between initial infection and any subsequent infection, it was found that having the virus before reduced the chances of reinfection by 90%.

BD can gain "herd immunity" by vaccinating its most vulnerable 20% who will account for 90% of hospitalisations and 99% of deaths and by natual immunity from prior infection.
Its not peoples health that I am commenting about. Most countries are trialing and will most likely soon issue something similar to vaccine passport . That will determine permission to enter a country and travel. As far as I understand. Vaccine passports don't consider herd immunity and the international community is well aware of which countries are vaccinated and by how much %.

So this means If say person A is not vaccinated, BD govt cannot issue a vaccine passport for travel. If enough people are not vaccinated , no travel to other countries therefore economy cannot be opened.... properly.

Not when you compare to 3 US dollars per dose of AstraZeneca.
Seriously I’m pissed at the bolods who invested 40 million in India for expanding the manufacturing plant. **** these lackeys
Why does not BD makes it own vaccine ? If Pakistan can make Pakvac then it is shameful for BD not to have their own vaccine.
Our vaccine was one of three backed by WHO
Our govt. sold out
At least China is delivering the vaccines, unlike India that took the advance money even before the vaccine was approved for use and then declined to deliver.

Every country is free to bargain as much as they want and the price also depends on the total quantity
True. Momen is now hiding like the little bitch he is.
everyone urged the govt. to fast track home grown vaccine but the govt relied on india

LOL, look at this child lying through his teeth...

They rebranded a chinese vaccine and are now calling it theirs... not surprised given their history of renaming Chinese products... only the perso-arabic name is missing this time...

Whereas Bangladesh has already developed its own mRNA based vaccine which has since been inducted into the WHO candidate vaccine list and is currently awaiting approval for human trials from the relevant government authorities..

Guys who import basic medicines will develop vaccine :omghaha:.

Cue the British slang comments... :omghaha:

Please do not shame us in this Forum. We cannot do such thing as producing our own vaccines but we regard ourselves most talented human group on Earth.

I know. We only meet 97% of our pharma demand locally.
The other 3% can only be fullfilled once we start making sewing needles.
In fact, Russia will set up a sewing needle plant right next to the upcoming Sputnik V plant in BD.

Not when you compare to 3 US dollars per dose of AstraZeneca.

And the extremely poor quality and harmful effect of AstraZeneca have been known worldwide.

Vietnam approved AstraZeneca first and imported at least 20 millions doses. So far only more than 1 millions have been used, the remaining is very likely to be discarded, because very few people want to pay for such a dangerous vaccines, which killed at least 1 nurses and caused many health problems.

We have to urgently approve Pfizer, Sputnik and Sinopharm recently.

I would be ready to pay 20$ for a Sinopharm rather than 03$ for Astra Zeneca.

. .
their reports are out yet ?? i tried to find, could not find much though.

He added that the vaccine prevented hospitalisation and severe illness in 100% of cases, saying the six people who were hospitalised were all in the placebo group.
