While around the world forests are shrinking due to climate change, deforestation and urban developpments, the trend has reversed in Europe. Forests are expending each years, between 1990 and 2015 for exemple the area covered by woodland in Europe (excluding Russia) increased by 90,000 km²,roughly the size of Portugal.

In France for exemple, there's more forests now than there was during medieval times, and still expending each years, following the same trend in Europe.

Crimea is administered by Russia claimed by Ukraine just like Falklands is administered by Britain claimed by Argentina.

Turkey is at around 28% which is similar to Greece. The result is not that bad considering that huge parts of Central and Eastern Anatolia are high plateaus, mountains and steppes with very harsh climate. Much of Anatolia have been deforested due to human exploitation too as a place which have been home to many civilizations and empires since ancient times.
