Funding the Afgans and Pakistans to fight the Soviets in the Afgan War was one of the most successful cold war campaigns, money extremely well spent. Technologically the Germans were far ahead of the allies and that's why they were so eager to get any bit of tech when the war was over. Nuclear techs, missile-, jet propulsion-, sub-, helicopter-, tank techs...so it's bassically the other way around as he said. Nearly anything we see today in the US has it's bases in Germany.

Dassault tested AESA sooner/more times than EADS radar. AESA for rafale to come sooner than eft aesa radar.

actually EF will put more maintenance to IA, as at the moment you have french standard for Mirage fleet, Russian standard to flankers and mig fleets, and american standard for C-17 and others....EF will indroduce their standards to your already troublesome spare parts supply.

EADS has offered joint partnership too. So I dont see that spares will be an issue as that has been made abundanatly clear.

US fighter consortiums lost out because of this very reason only. While in post-Pokhran stages US had employed embargoes against India, French did no such thing. So the choice of EADS and Dassault

Which are majorly limited by the need to depend upon US for spares which are rather short in supply for Pakistan. They themselves are converting to JF-17 to get off the dependency from US

Both the consortiums have offered full tech transfer including source codes for the AESA radars. The proposals have been cleared by the respective governments too.

Probably they don't need the rafale anymore after developing the J 10b almost completly on their own.I may be wrong though.
