Eurofighter typhoon with Storm shadow missile
- A +
The Eurofighter consortium's order book for Typhoon fighter jets has grown to 623 aircraft following the signing of contract with Qatar to supply 24 fighters signed in December.

Besides, December brought confirmation that Typhoon jet's production had started for the State of Kuwait while the Sultanate of Oman took its first deliveries of Eurofighter Typhoon at Adam Air Base, Oman.

The addition of the deep strike cruise missile Storm Shadow, Beyond Visual Range (BVR) air-to-air missile Meteor, and the precision attack missile Brimstone, will increase the operational performance of the Eurofighter Typhoon, Volker Paltzo, Chief Executive Officer for Eurofighter said in a statement last Wednesday.

Eurofighter Typhoon aircraft meant for the Kuwaiti Air Force (KAF) will be the most advanced produced so far and the first among the fighter jet’s eight customers to receive the E-Scan AESA radar.

Deliveries of Kuwait’s Eurofighter Typhoons will start in 2020 and conclude in 2023, will consist of a package of capabilities on top of the previous enhancement programmes that will include the Leonardo-led E-Scan radar and a number of weapon system upgrades.

Great news, it seem that the Typhoon has no serious competitor within its generation. Good things for British industry.

After Brexit defence industry will go up and up.

So the news of closing down EFT productions was not factual because it will take some years to exhaust this list.

623 is the total planned production as of 2018.
It does not even fulfill earlier Tranche 3B goals.

About 570 aircrafts having been produced today,
the real order book is 50+ incl. Qatar's fighters.

That goes to 2020 but then the F-35 is coming,
at least for the UK and Italy and BAe announced
recently that they were making as much through
servicing the Typhoon fleet as through sales/prod.

Defense news was never top quality but lately,
their editorial line of caressing egos by tweaking
descriptions skyrocketed past even the EF's ceiling.

Great day and better year still guys 'n gals, Tay.

If you look at deliveries outside the initial design parters, it certainly has.

Eurofighter:
Austria 15
Quwait 28
Oman 12
Saudi Arabia 72
Qatar 24
Total 151

Rafale:
Egypt 24
Qatar 36
India 36
Total 96

Gripen:
South Africa 26
Thailand 6
Brazil 36
Czech 14
Hungary 14
Total 96

Gripen is not sold to Middle East countries, so in reality, Gripen have not lost a single design to Eurofighters except Austria, where they are considering replacing the Eurofighters with Gripen due to cost.

Gripen has lost a single design to Rafale outside the Middle East, and that is India.
India will need fighters in numbers that will upset the figures above, and they are looking at Rafale, Hornet, Gripen and F-16, but not at Eurofighters.

Numbers are of course ignoring US and Russian fighters.

Among the three European 4.5 G fighters,Gripen is a very good fighter, but because the Swedish name are not as loud as Britain, France and Germany etc, Gripen has always been underestimated
Typoon with big title of european fighter was always been Overestimated

The Swiss aircraft bidding evaluation, for the single engine Gripen aircraft, many parameter is better than double engine typhoon fighter

But this is the human nature, make judges by big title, especially for muslim brothers, no offence

Both are different class fighters. EFT is twin engine heavy fighter while Grippen is single engine light to medium fighter. EFT can super cruise while Grippen can't so there are a lot differences and especially in the avionics.

Well, there is only two real Islamic republics in this world and both have good relations with China. Monarchies are not suitable examples for Muslim brothers regardless of their people, they are still monarchies.

If China wants to have bigger share, i think that the way is working with this two Islamic republics. ;)

Can you please educate me respected sir. I don’t get how Brexit will increase the volume of sales.

To my knowledge sales will increase if we get no-tarrif deals with other countries, such as Common Wealth. Is that what you are referring to?

I hope your right though, inflation rate has increased above the 2% target and is currently at 3.1%.

Non alignment and non-interference are our basic foreign policies
We never pursue the big share against our policy, but the share just become bigger and bigger
We are just here, you are welcome for win-win cooperation if you want

Thanks for the respect but you don't need to call me sir. BAE is the most profitable company in Britain with links in the British Establishment! Britain's withdrawal from the European Economic Zone will make not only BAE but all defence vendors more important as Britain has a very potent defence industry. You sell what you have and that is defence solutions.
