It's the way you go about doing things. The east probably could vote to become independent and then join Russia. However you send in unmarked Russian troops and arm militias, whilst mobilizing thousands of troops along the border.

Of course, defense of the only Russian naval base on the Black Sea - was one of the main reasons. For Russia, Sevastopol - a symbol-sity, like Stalingrad. However, the locals have long dreamed reunite with Russia and their dream finally came true. I hoped that Russia will free all Novorossia in past spring - the entire south-east of the former Ukraine. Unfortunately, this did not happen. We had to win our freedom with blood. But we will win it and will return into Russia, or will enter the Eurasian Union, I believe in it.
