EU SET TO BAN INDIAN BASMATI

Basmati rice is a Pakistani product. India should have never been allowed to use our product and brand name.

"Basmati" is a Sanskrit Hindu girls name.
And it means literally fragrant.
Maybe it is better idea to give your Basmati rice another name, Like "Fatima rice" or "Aisha rice"?

Basmati rice is a Pakistani product. India should have never been allowed to use our product and brand name.

"Earlier this year, Gurnam Arora, Kohinoor Foods Joint managing director, was quoted inIndian media reports as saying that the EU norms are “unjust, one-sided and not in the interest of farmers,” and raised concerns the trade would shift over to Pakistan, which does not use the pesticide on its rice supplies."

Boycott kohinoor products in UK. Be Pakistani, buy Pakistani.

Get your facts right , RiceTec got patent, It was India who opposed it. Pakistan was asked to join but they refused because of lack of funds to fight for this issue.
India won and as a goodwill gesture shared the Patent with Pakistan

"In September 1997, a Texas company, RiceTec, was granted U.S. Patent No. 5,663,484 on "basmati rice lines and grains". The patent secures lines of basmati and basmati-like rice and ways of analyzing that rice. RiceTec, owned by Prince Hans-Adam of Liechtenstein, faced international outrage over allegations of biopiracy. It had also caused a brief diplomatic crisis between India and the United States, with India threatening to take the matter to the WTO as a violation of TRIPS. Both voluntarily and due to review decisions by the United States Patent and Trademark Office, RiceTec lost or withdrew most of the claims of the patent,"

I never go to Indian restaurants.

I don't even know what their foods are like.

All I know is that beef is not a part of Indian cuisine.

But Beef is very important in Pakistani cuisine.

LOL

I eat beef and lots of beef.

What are you saying, India is the largest exporter (or second) of Beef in the world,
Please do some research before posting crap,

There is high chance that Beef you are consuming is coming from India

You are just an individual and you opinion does not matter, what matters is what average Canadian thinks of Indian Products. And Import numbers of Canada tell the real story

I am talking to a child. Damn, decide your heritage and stick to it. So by making the above claim, you accept your ancestors were Hindus once. That is great to know.

Also, please don't use emoticons to win a argument. It'll just point to your ignorance.

In UAE, we never buy Indian foods, except where no alternative is available.. Once I bought Indian Basmati thinking that it was Pakistani rice, and immediately we knew the difference after cooking.. You know crops subjected to extensive harmful pesticides VS crops not subjected to harmful pesticides..

Anyway, one Pakistani brand is the best overall.. my God, the aroma and the long grain.. it quadruples the taste of Biryani.. wow..

Similarly, Shan/ National has no competition in terms of quality..

Who would choose Yellowish Oily Priya over Shan?

Facts on ground tell the real story not your narrative, Check sales figures and you will get to know what is the preferance of masses

I am Tamil. So what.
Anyways Basmati is a Hindu name.
Would you give your daughter a Hindu name?
If not....
Then give your rice an Arabic Islamic name

Because there are too many Indians living in gulf. I am talking about myself and other pakistanis I know.

Ok dick head

Basmati rice as traditionally known was the strain that grew in modern Pakistan.

Thus Indian rice is not actually basmati.

However the trademark "Basmati" is owned by india. thereby allowing them to sell non basmati rice legally with the name basmati.
I assume from your post that you know a lot about this subject. Why don't you enlighten both Indian and Pakistani members about your claim that Basmati is originally from Pakistan. Let's talk only on the subject and not beat the around the bush ok?

So am expecting some solid evidence / literature from you on this claim. If not then then think 100 times before posting a bs claim. If you have heard tales from you Grandma regarding Basmati it's only because of your grandma being a part of the culture that existed before partition. Indians too grew up hearing these tales...so what does that mean then? Infact with that logic even Bangladesh should claim about Basmati as it's one of the only 3 countries growing Basmati and even the kids know about Basmati there.

Though grown in both India and Pakistan (and laregely in India) your love for everything Pakistan has made you blindly believe it's originally from Pakistan.
Thankfully India has the patent or else your fantasy would have seen no boundary.

The oldest grains of Basmati are found in the Indus civilization, places like Mohenjodaro. It is a product of Indus river basin.

.
How can you claim Basmati name? It is a pure Hindi word.

Basmati is basically originates from "Vasumati" which means ""Earth recognised by its fragrance", the word purley exposited from Hindi.
