Imran Khan appreciated Jean-Francois’s personal efforts and interest to improve bilateral ties

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – European Union Ambassador Jean-Francois Cautain on Monday said that the EU was ready to work with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan–led government in security, economy, GSP-Plus, education, and rural development sectors.

He said this during his meeting with PTI chairman Imran Khan in Islamabad on Monday to congratulate Imran Khan for his party s victory in general elections held last month.

The Ambassador said that the EU was ready to help Pakistan get out of FATF grey list.

Jean-Francois said that we have no objection over the Gas pipeline project which is in progress between Pakistan and Iran, adding that the EU wants stability and development in Pakistan.

The EU envoy also said that we will help the new government to bring overseas investors and businessmen in Pakistan.

Speaking on the ocassion, Imran Khan welcomed the Ambassador at his residence and thanked him for his good wishes.

He also appreciated Jean-Francois Cautain’s personal efforts and interest to improve bilateral ties between Pakistan and European Union and to help the people of Pakistan in difficult moments.

The PTI chairman desired that both Pakistan and European Union should improve people-to-people contacts through engagement and investments in multiple sectors including health and education.

True. This is where a global icon, charismatic, persuasive, articulate who is a great advocate for Pakistan makes a differance. By finessing people in positions of power as you said"bit by bit" the tide starts turning in Pakistan's favour. Take this guy. Once he leaves he will walk away with a more positive then when he came and that all makes a differance as he relays his thoughts back to EU capitals. By building links with global elite IK can use those connections to yank a better deal for Pakistan. That is what good leaders are all about.

In fact I am really looking forward to IK meeting Trump. I am convinced our man Khan is going to disarm even Trump and walk away with a better deal then any other Pakistani leader could have garnered. Well he certainly could remin d Trump about how he swayed Ivanka some years ago ;)

I personally think that world respects an honest person who is democratically elected and has a long struggle behind him. The corrupt-badmashiya may have also got such offers but they discussed about securing their assets, visas & iqamas for themselves and their children, establishing their personal relations and backbiting their own institutions. So even if they offer some benefits to those corrupt rulers, they talk about them in very derisively with a lot of disgust in private.

Now when they meet IK, he talks about his people, the national issues, mutual relations and in a dignified way... so even if they may not agree with him on certain issues, they will surely respect him for his honesty and sincerity. Things are moving in the right direction.
  1. UK's willingness to cooperate with Pakistan over looted wealth
  2. EU's offer to help Pakistan get out of FATF
  3. KSA + China's financial help
Things are definitely moving in a positive direction

Just ask yourself, how did you get into the FATF grey list in the first place. Where was China or EU? And I don't think EU decides about the foreign policy of Individual members.

International relations or perceptions don't change overnight.dont put undue pressure on imran he dsnt have a magic wand.
It takes a collective effort to change things around.

Pakistan probably will be kept in the black list, as long as there is a taliban insurgency in Afghanistan. USA will make sure Pakistan will be in FATF list.

One of the Trump administrations agenda is to make sure Pakistan do not play double games.
