Turkey wants to build a dam in the Vjosa river valley.

Now the Eu targets this project and brought it to a halt.

The Vjoasa river is labelled one of europeas last untouched rivers.

Since Albania is a EU memebr candidate, it has to follow certain procedures.

The Eu says the river must be left untouched and send a team. This team investigated and found 40 species never found before in Albania and even 2 unknown species.

Now several projects are started. One is a biodiversity mapping project, which halts construction for several years.

Another is a feasibiluty project, which says that the turkish plans are rubbish, the dam will be useless in 25 years, because the lake will be filled with sediments.

First of all, it's an Albanian dam. Just because a Turkish company/consortium is commissioned to build the dam doesn't make it Turkish. Don't be so cheap.

Well the court banned it now and demands extensive studies performed. I think thats a good thing. Nature must be preserved.
