Emami to begin commercial operations in Bangladesh

Fair and Lovely will do brisk business in Bangladesh. Bangladeshis are obsessed with lighter shade skins, more than Indians!.
Obsession with skin shade is present in India which can be seen during marriages, where skin shade being a parameter to determine "beautiful".
If such desire is present in Bangladeshi users then Emami will do brisk business.

I consider F&L in the same category as the makeup/ beauty cream in the west, tanning cream, wrinkle removal etc. cosmectic products. In west these type of cosmetics are also marked by beauty product, as if the end user lacks beauty.
F&L is just a product name, doesnot promise to make black skin white or other wise. IT just says it will make fairer, which is again matter of prospective.
If the slogan sells then good for the company. End users are intelligent enough to know what is good for them or not.

what do you think when an advertisement of a product says being dark is uncool?
The ads are in poor taste but the product is not any different from tanning cream or push up bra.
It caters to the existing demand (indians like fair skin in general).
