Watched the first few mins of the vid. I have heard of his idea before. The idea is unnecessary complication on top of already a congested, polluting and non-harmonious transportation system.

1. What should be done is a global ban on privately-owned personal transport vehicles ( cars, jeeps, motorcycles and scooters ). In their place make efficient and make more numerous mass public transport vehicles ( buses ideally ) and taxis ( like Uber ). Imagine the sudden drop in pollution directly. There will also be secondary drop in pollution due to vehicle companies no longer introducing huge numbers of vehicle models every year and the reduction in the raw materials needed to manufacture those vehicles. The remaining or introduced vehicles can run on petrol.

2. Other type of vehicles can of course remain : food and groceries delivery vans, ambulances, construction and garbage trucks etc.

Perhaps the Boring company was a cover for something else going on. Otherwise, my now they would have shown something innovative in how they actually dig the tunnels, cheaper then the competition, and don’t have just the Hawthorne and Las Vegas sites to show for all their work.

He never said he was going to build it.
Hyperloop was just part of a talk he had about future technologies.
He doesn't even think it is a good idea for distances over 500 miles (which probably means he isn't a fan of long distance HSR)

If anything from the above talk he is more likely to build an electric plane.

What's wrong with tunnels to move people from one side of a crowded building complex to another? You could walk it, bike it, etc. There's nothing inherently wrong with it.

It's a taxi service that has its own private road system, and you can only go between a few specific stations like a train. It is a waste of money. 40mph is the speed at which cars will be driven in these tunnels, so what's the point of traveling in these tunnels instead of traveling above ground? You Americans could have built an underground railway instead. Why do you American hate trains so much?
