Mig-29M\M2 - IT'S a Mig-35\35D.


The Mig-29M\M2 has two different variants. The first Mig-29M2 was created for Indian MRCA competitions - it's basically ordinary Mig-29M (index 9-15) with new electronic and two seat cockpit, but with old airframe. It's got name Mig-29 MRCA or Mig-35D.

The second variant of Mig-29M\M2 (index 9-61\67) based on the airframe of Mig-29K\KUB (index 9-41\47) (with has a huge difference compared to basic model of Mig-29M (index 9-15) ) only without tailhook, more lighter chassis, wings don't stack in half and without other naval equipments.

So the latest version of Mig-35\D - it's the latest version of Mig-29M\M2 - which is land-based version of Mig-29K\KUB.

It was renamed just a year ago to not mistake models.

I don't think the price will be of a significant difference above the Mig-29M2 price, since they are not much different except the new radar/electronics/reduced RCS, Mig-35 at maximum will be 10 million dollars more expensive than the Mig-29.

So i think it will be in a range of 38-45 million US dollars. But i think Egypt can get them at a lower cost, they already signed 2 deals with Russia with a total cost of 6+ billion dollars, one at a cost of 2.5 billion dollars for 24 Mig-29, and Buk M2/Tor M2 (already delivered), and the other deal is worth 3.5 billion dollars, for 4 S-300 V4 batteries , 24 Mig35, and it was reportedly announced that Egypt signed a deal to acquire 4 advanced Kilo class submarines for a cost of 2 billion dollars.

let's calculate it, if the Mig-35 price is around 40 million, then 24 Mig-35 cost about 1 billion dollar + 2 billion dollar for the latest version of the Kilo 636 project + $500 million for the cost of 4 S-300 V4 batteries, the total cost is 3.5 billion dollars i can't post link but the cost of the 4 batteries was reported on the official Kzgroup site, which is the company building the S-300 V4 system chassis for Egypt, the contract cost is 3.1 billion Russian rupees , which is about 500 million dollars , and the Egyptian contract for 4 Kilo submarines was reported by armstrade and rusarm websites.

Now Egypt will have in their navy fleet a total of 8 of the most advanced submarines in the world, 4 Kilo class submarines + 4 Type-209 submarines (first sub to be delivered by the end of 2015). You can say that Egypt's new military leadership is re-arming and modernizing every branch of the whole military.

why both Mig-29 and Mig-35 instead of this they could go for all Mig-35 or SU-30MKK/MK2 etc . they have large number of mig 21 and f-7 to replace they could done it with JF-17 for multi roll and SU-30 for air superiority but may be Russia wants to Mig production factory running by selling Mig to Egypt .

Sisi is the clever man and also he is a former soldier. For example: If my F-16 fighters and my ground based air defence, are not good against the Israel Air Force, of course i look some other options. Not for a fight of course. But military shadows must put on the diplomacy table. This weapons provide that for a Egypt.

Russian made air defence sysems are good and usefull. But, Mig jets?.. İ don't think so. Specially Mig-29 family not Sukhoi. K-8 is a good beginnig. Egypt can find batter solutions from China. And this solutions can provide a better local assembly and building, technology transpehere, etc. like that. This is my opinion...

Two mistakes many do is that they consider the Egyptian Army a guard for Egypt only. The Egyptian Army is considered the army of the Arabs, we back each other. Egypt has more than potential enemy. Egypt is keeping eyes on Israel, Iran and others. The other is that they deal with every army of an Arab country separately, so for example selling F-15 for KSA not for Egypt isn't the best idea there, in the end you'll find them one army -likely flied by Egyptians pilots-.

You don't know anything, the Mig29 M/M2 was already signed in April 2014, and now Egypt is negotiating Mig-35 , and Egyptian Pilots tested the planes in Russia, According to Mikoyan official. Also few days ago, few sources announced Egypt is negotiating with French Dassault to acquire an initial order of 24 Rafale, to replace some of the older Mirage V jets. so now it's confirmed Egypt is on it's way to buy a total of 72 jets, 24 Mig-29M/M2 + 24 Mig-35 + 24 Rafale , to phase out some older 80-100 planes like Mig-21 and Mirage V jets

Plus 28 SU-35 (or SU-30 special edition for Egypt MKE) as of the latest news from the official egyptian news Chanel..
