Egypt Buys MiG-29M Negotiates MiG-35

they have never reach an agreement yet there is no mig-29m to Egypt until they sign the agreement. The Egyptian still thinking about which is which.

You don't know anything, the Mig29 M/M2 was already signed in April 2014, and now Egypt is negotiating Mig-35 , and Egyptian Pilots tested the planes in Russia, According to Mikoyan official. Also few days ago, few sources announced Egypt is negotiating with French Dassault to acquire an initial order of 24 Rafale, to replace some of the older Mirage V jets. so now it's confirmed Egypt is on it's way to buy a total of 72 jets, 24 Mig-29M/M2 + 24 Mig-35 + 24 Rafale , to phase out some older 80-100 planes like Mig-21 and Mirage V jets

First of all can you tell me who pays for all these planes let say egypt will pay 30-40 million $ a piece but how about the rafale do you know how much they cost?.

and you told I don't know nothing man collect your thoughts all together then talk.

before I go every one Rafale cost at least 80-90 million dollar fly away that's not including weapons, spare parts and training.

I will just copy one of my answers about Egyptian military financial state :

The Egyptian Military defense budget is more than 7 billion dollars (without adding the revenues of Egyptian military civilian projects) , in addition to Egyptian military factories in Egypt that make foods and house electronics and equipment like LED TV's, dish washers, stoves , Microwaves , communication equipment, and hundreds of other civilian projects like hotels, etc. that provide them with an income up to 4-8 billion dollars every year, making the defense budget up to 10-15 billion dollars every year.

Of course not all the money is spent on buying weapons from other countries, no, Egypt have military factories, they build the M1A1 Abrams with more than 95% locally produced equipment , they build APC's called Fahd (an Egyptian variant of American M113) they build severl types of unmanned drone like Scarab and several other types, and lastly the Advanced Chinese ASN 209 UAV, produced 100% locally in Egypt under license since 2012, Egypt also makes Chinese K-8 trainer jets locally (they built locally more than 100+ jets until this day) , Egypt also has facilities for upgrading and repairing F-16 Engines, and they also produce F-16 spare parts locally, and much more weapons is built locally by Egyptian Army !

There's too much things that people on here don't know about the Egyptian military. Egypt also contracted for 4 French most modern Gowind corvettes, 3 of which will be built locally in Egypt (a purchase of 2 more Gowind is very likely, to reach a total of 6 Gowind corvettes).

And few days ago it was announced that Egypt is in talks with French Dassault to acquire an initial older of 24 Rafale jets to replace some of the older Mirage V jets, Egypt has 80 Mirage V jets, so the initial 24 Rafale order will be raised over years. the Rafale costs at least 100 million dollars per jet, 24 Rafale will cost around 2.5 - 3 billion dollars.

Egyptian military does have much money in their hands, people think Egyptian military is governed by the country's economy, actually no, Egyptian military has a separate economy :)

oh BTW, Egypt also signed a contract with Germany to acquire 4 Type-209 modern submarines, the first submarine will be delivered between 2015-2016

Better for the Egypt to go for a well modified version of MiG-35 Dual Seat version with local production of about 100-150 aircrafts in 7 years time.

Well said, it will be big boost for Eyptian air force, if they can get as you have said with latest Russian weapons.

What is the difference between Mig-29M/M2 & Mig-35?

Mig-35 has better electronics, the biggest difference is that Mig-35 has the modern AESA radar, while Mig-29 has an older radar, also a very important difference is the RCS, the Mig-35 has much less RCS than the Mig-29M/M2

Still, the most recent deals are at least part funded by Egypt's gulf allies.

Can please anybody explain why is Egypt equipping itself on urgent basis with Mig29/35, S300 and other purchases ?? I am sure they don't need all this for ISIS .. is it directed towards Israel ??

Two mistakes many do is that they consider the Egyptian Army a guard for Egypt only. The Egyptian Army is considered the army of the Arabs, we back each other. Egypt has more than potential enemy. Egypt is keeping eyes on Israel, Iran and others. The other is that they deal with every army of an Arab country separately, so for example selling F-15 for KSA not for Egypt isn't the best idea there, in the end you'll find them one army -likely flied by Egyptians pilots-.

Hey, post some links a good one to those deals with france and germany.

Second many people they eiother don't understand what they read or just see their dreams over what they read so they translate it wrong.

egypt still didn't buy any fighters.

But Indian Navy Mig-29K also have AESA radar so it is not difficult to have better avionics for Mig-29, but I think lower RCS and longer range with TVC is also big difference between two. but why Egypt purchasing Mig-29s when they can go directly to Mig-35s?

I think they need the Mig-29M as an interceptor, while Mig-35 as a multirole fighter .

And btw no, Mig-29K is not equipped with AESA due to radar size and weight issues, not compatible with the Mig-29 airframe

Mig-29M\M2 - IT'S a Mig-35\35D.

The Mig-29M\M2 has two different variants. The first Mig-29M2 was created for Indian MRCA competitions - it's basically ordinary Mig-29M (index 9-15) with new electronic and two seat cockpit, but with old airframe. It's got name Mig-29 MRCA or Mig-35D.

The second variant of Mig-29M\M2 (index 9-61\67) based on the airframe of Mig-29K\KUB (index 9-41\47) (with has a huge difference compared to basic model of Mig-29M (index 9-15) ) only without tailhook, more lighter chassis, wings don't stack in half and without other naval equipments.

So the latest version of Mig-35\D - it's the latest version of Mig-29M\M2 - which is land-based version of Mig-29K\KUB.

It was renamed just a year ago to not mistake models.

Also, photo of Mig-29K cockpit just to add to my post.
