Entobel Co., Ltd.

Entobel is a Belgian company active in the field of Biotechnology. The aim of Entobel is to supply innovative and sustainable ingredients made from insects. The company is now expanding its activities to Vietnam.

Growth of population and change in food habits will lead toward an increasing pressure on earth’s resources. In 2050, we will be more than 9 billion on the planet and experts are wondering how we will feed our population. The way we currently consume our resources is unsustainable and a solution must be found.

Entobel believes insect is part of the solution.

Insect rearing and processing is the core activity of the company. Entobel considers insects as a sustainable resource with promising potential. Insect have the capacity to replace non-sustainable ingredients currently used in the animal feed industry. Indeed, one of the resources currently used is fishmeal, which is made from wild fish caught from the ocean. Fish stocks are depleting while the demand for this feed source is growing. Entobel considers insect as a truly viable and sustainable alternative to this resource.

Entobel also supplies organic fertilizer generated from its production process. This organic fertilizer will be supplied in Vietnam in order to support the development of high quality organic farming.

Insects are processed into high quality ingredients that are supplied to various industries. Main industries include the animal feed, pharmaceutical and cosmetic industry. There is also a growing demand from innovative biotechnology companies in foreign markets.

Entobel relies on more than 10 years experience in research and development in Europe, with the support of local authorities. Entobel is now developing its facilities in Vietnam. This is an emerging industry existing in most of developed countries around the world but it would be the first factory of its kind in Vietnam. The know-how and technology are being transferred and adapted to Vietnam.

I can accept some species, but please no fly, bug, cockroach and dragonfly...

If certain perceptions embedded in the minds of the people change then this could truly eradicate famine in the world.
I am against pork and beef farms as they are the major cause of global warming.
We use more food grain to feed these animals than humans, they also require huge amount of water which will be scarce commodity in the future.
Overall its a criminal waste of resources just to enjoy red meat.
Insects could be the miracle food if it tastes good.

I bet You know this food.

Silk worm that we eat in our part of India is not that big. Cricket is eaten too. Do people eat ant larvae in vietnam? Its kind of popular in certain areas.

I've had deep fried silkworm, ants, scorpion and cockroach. Silkworm was by far the best in terms of taste, and the cockroach was quite nasty.

My biggest nightmare is about worms....Any worm without legs......
I am not afraid of any other kinds of animals......
I can never enter a flower and bird market where worms are sold for birds.....
I dare not to walk in the garden after rain, because there would be earthworms everywhere.....

Ha ha ha I understand. Worm scared. There is a solution for your problem: taking proteins extracted from worms. That is the way Entobel goes. Breeding worms in industrial scale, extracting proteins and other valuables by cooking worms and larvae at low heat, drying and grinding to a flour. Voila, adding other substances you can make the stuff as animal feeds. Or make it suitable for human consumption.

Protein is protein. Regardless it comes from pig or worm.
