Eating exotic mammals in southern China, as a large reservoir of SARS-CoV-like viruses

Totally baseless claim, most of the deadly viruses are made in laboratories and when are leaked from laboratories then the blame is shifted on the consumption of wild animals meat in china

It's from US, spreaded around the world by US military servicemen, the first known case was reported at a military base in Kansas in the United Stateson March 11, 1918.

On 4 March 1918, company cook Albert Gitchell, from Haskell County, reported sick at Fort Riley, a US military facility that at the time was training American troops during World War I, making him the first recorded victim of the flu. Within days, 522 men at the camp had reported sick.

Yes he was infected by a nameless Chinese migrant worker - no one really cared about the health and welfare of migrant workers at the time. No one cared enough to even document their names. I shared with you a London School of Economics research paper earlier....

Here is another one from Canada.

In 2014, historian Mark Humphries of Canada's Memorial University of Newfoundland, however, told the National Geographic that newly unearthed records "confirm" that one of the side stories of the war — the mobilization of 96,000 Chinese labourers to work behind the British and French lines on World War I's Western Front — may have been the source of the pandemic.

The above records indicate that influenza was widespread in China in 1918 to 1919, but although severe in some parts, it was mild in many places compared with elsewhere in the world. One explanation is that the 1918–19 influenza virus, or a closely related precursor, originated in China, so that many Chinese had had prior exposure and hence some immunity was obtained.

So their pigs have COVID-19 too?

According to some studies, Covid-19 was brought in to Wuhan by a nameless American.

This article was written in 2007. You can start reading from here:

SHOULD WE BE READY FOR THE REEMERGENCE OF SARS?

The medical and scientific community demonstrated marvelous efforts in the understanding and control of SARS within a short time, as evident by over 4,000 publications available online. Despite these achievements, gaps still exist in terms of the molecular basis of the physical stability and transmissibility of this virus, the molecular and immunological basis of disease pathogenesis in humans, screening tests for early or cryptic SARS cases, foolproof infection control procedures for patient care, effective antivirals or antiviral combinations, the usefulness of immunomodulatory agents for late presenters, an effective vaccine with no immune enhancement, and the immediate animal host that transmitted the virus to caged civets in the market at the beginning of the epidemic. Coronaviruses are well known to undergo genetic recombination (375), which may lead to new genotypes and outbreaks. The presence of a large reservoir of SARS-CoV-like viruses in horseshoe bats, together with the culture of eating exotic mammals in southern China, is a time bomb. The possibility of the reemergence of SARS and other novel viruses from animals or laboratories and therefore the need for preparedness should not be ignored.

prophetic....Thank you for this

Nobody knows where Spanish Flu came from. One theory is that it came from China. Southern Chinese of course consume wild animals including my own flatmate who eats snakes. Stop denying.

In your flat? WTF Bro? move out as soon as you can...

I will urge chinese to eat whatever they want to eat without any kind of complex, but I already know chinese don't care what others think about their eating habits. I met a Chinese student from Beijing 10 years ago and he was very categorical about his right to eat whatever he wants when people were making joke out of Chinese habit of eating exotic animals. The chinese student at that time said we chinese don't give a damn what people think about our chinese eating habits because chinese don't give a damn about eating habits of people living in other countries, so he said people have to shut their mouths. So it is their country they can eat whatever they want, they are not answerable to anyone about their eating habits.

yea, especially wild ocean fish and oyster. People should stop eating wild caught fish, unless it's farmed.
we need to protect the ocean, otherwise, the earth will die when the ocean is empty.
The more vegetarian the better.
All lives matter.

Fish are much more cleaner than bats, civets or pigs.

You chinese either get your act together or your people will continue to punish the world with new diseases.

More like you denial the real source of those virus. Cos you are desperate to pull the Chinese in.

Fly a fake flag and then post bogus experience in an low life attempt to smear Chinese.

The Black death comes from China. So many diseases that come from china.

Every disease that comes from china destroys the world.

It's most likely from Turkey

It is thought that the disease made its way to Europe in 1346. In one famous incident, the Tatars, a group of Turks, were battling Italians from Genoa in the Middle East when the Tatars were suddenly stuck down by the plague. In 1347, the disease worked its way to France and Paris lost an estimated 50,000 people.

Nice spin but the Mongols and Tatars used it as a bioweapon by catapulting diseased corpses over the walls where the Genoese fled on their ships and took the sickness to Italy.

It is said either the Black Death comes from Central Asia or East Asia. Another theory is that the Mongol destruction of Eurasia might have caused it because they destroyed infanstructure, farms also killed so many people a lot of the bodies were not buried.

No trace in the Chinese history books, China is arguably the best history recorder in the world, so it must be Turks brought it to Europe.

It came from your silk roads now that legacy continues with Covid 19.

Difference between Turkey and China. A new outbreak of a new disease does not happen in Turkey it happens in China.

I forgot too not even Somalia or Yemen caused an global outbreak like this.

Yeah. Folks, remember MERS? It was from camel to human and camel isn't a wild animal.

What caused mers it was bats of course.

Saudis consumed camels that were bitten by bats or interacted with them. Still how come these new outbreaks of diseases happens in China?

How the hell does it occur to people to eat these animals??

In thailand in a wet market they have a serval locked in a cage along with meerkats??

You look at these animals because they amaze you not something that comes to your mind to eat.

The two biggest outbreaks in the last 100 years both originated in US. China has 20% of world population, it's supposed to have 20% of world outbreaks, but in reality China has far less outbreaks than that precentage, check WHO website for more information.

Virus on bats rarely pass on human. They always require some intermediate animals to enable further mutation in order to be able to infect human eventually. If human simply stops close interaction with animals, it is nearly impossible to be affected by virus on bats. Therefore, it is not the bats that we should blame for. It is the human-animal interaction that enables whatever weird garbage from animals to pass on human. Think about it. When was the last pandemic caused by virus from plants?

Chinese scientists are still looking for the plausible intermediate animals that could help explain COVID-19 pandemic.
