Dutch Labor Party expelled 2 MPs of Turkish origin

Two Dutch MPs of Turkish origin have been expelled from the Labor Party for refusing to support Deputy PM Lodewijk Asscher’s integration policy.

Labor Party MPs Tunahan Kuzu and Selcuk Ozturk were expelled from the ruling party on Thursday after they criticized Asscher and accused him of planning to step up surveillance on four Turkish religious organizations in the Netherlands which he said he felt were "hindering integration".

The pair were asked to sign a statement of support for the policy, which they declined

Kuzu said in a statement: "Elected MPs are being silenced for refusing to sign a declaration which they do not support."

He added they refused to sign the declaration in order to support those "who do not feel represented under the integration policy".

'Shocking and unacceptable'

Ozturk said: "There are people who feel like second class citizens ... that should not be the case in the Dutch democracy."

Dutch MPs have called for more research into the attitude of Dutch Turkish youngsters towards the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant after a survey of 300 people indicated that 80 percent of young Dutch Turkish Muslims saw nothing wrong with waging jihad against people from other religions.

The survey found 90 percent of young Turks thought those fighting against Syrian president Bashar al-Assad’s troops were "heroes" and half thought it would be a good thing if Dutch Muslims joined the fight.

Liberal party parliamentarian, Malik Azmani, called the results of the poll "shocking and unacceptable" while Asscher said: “We cannot accept that these youngsters turn their backs to society."

Kick out members out of their party for expressing their opinion? Racism is still a big problem in Europe.

I like this I do not know these two "turkish" but mostly I can say from what I have learned from germany is that these party members are the worst wannybe turks.. better to have some real german or dutch than those pseudo turk freaks.. mostly they are more antiturk as proturk.. they are mostly the hey integration works icons but they show that it is not integreation its asimilation..

but for dutch I do not except any good things from there.. its a stay away area for everybody except of indo european and maybe christian origin..

they were kicked out exactly because they are not the things you describe. They were against assimilation of Turkish people and they were kicked out of the party with a lame excuse.

Now they are going to start their own party.

I do not know if they are really so.. if I would ask some german wannabe turks they would be also against assimilation..

this could be inner party conflicts or to get liberal voters and turkish voters because they know that they will be kicked out or just dutch antimuslimturkish behavior..

as I said earlier I do not know but I am very sceptic.. and I do not like dutch

Really i dont know, bit i will vote for Kuzu and Ozturk because they didnt betrayed ther voters.I can say 100% that the other parties are not different then laborpary.

We have a rightwing atmosphere in Netherlands because the ecomonic crisis, look every place i speak witch Dutch people they are talking about Poland and Bulgarians. The same situation when i was teenager 15 years ago but back that days we didnt have economic crisis. Turks and Mocros was the problem. On the other site they are right about their complaining, this is not our subject so we pass.

The socialist movement is even right today a litle bit.

Where are these Poles and Bulgarians? I only met few of them in the Netherlands. Also never had problems with them.
