hmmmm. what's the problem with idolatry, I never understood it. people don't literally believe that some idol is god, it's just an object of focus. unnecessary hostility against harmless behaviour alienates people.

edit: nevermind, I assumed you meant from a secular perspective. but I guess non-praying can just mean more liberal following of the iconoclastic religion.

We are Muslim but we are secular. We love our Hindu brothers. Their Durga Puja has deep cultural significance in our Bengali New Year Celebration. We celebrate Bengali new year with Durga masks, idols and various iconography which indicates our root in Hinduism. We are Hindu by culture but Muslim by faith and nobody can change the truth.

In Bangladesh Durga Puja is the second biggest festival after Eid. Durga Puja also has strong cultural impact in our Bengali culture. Bengali culture is just a part of Hindu culture. Hindus use Mangal Pradip. In Bangladesh Muslims also use Mangal Pradip during any cultural program inauguration, just like what Hindus do in Navratri festival. My dear brother, believe me, we are really culturally Hindu people with Muslim faith.

Fireworks may be fun to many but they are a danger and should be banned. Even the Indian Supreme Court has said that in no Hindu religious text is it written that fireworks be used. Diwali's actual name is Deepawali - the Festival of lamps - and not crackers, rockets or other fireworks. Fireworks come from China and Hindus adopted them not too long ago. There is no rational reason for fireworks to be continued. Ten days of madness just during Diwali is easily avoided through a ban. No god or goddess will mind. In 2015 this happened :
