Dubai Holding has unveiled plans to build the world’s first temperature-controlled city, Mall of the World, located along Sheikh Zayed Road.

Ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum launched the spectacular development, which will occupy a total area of 48 million square feet and will house the largest shopping mall in the world with an area of 8 million sq ft.

The mall will take the form of an extended retail street network, which developers say will be different to the typical shopping mall concept currently available in Dubai

The project will comprise the largest indoor theme park in the world, which will be covered by a glass dome that will be open during the winter months

Additional districts within the project will include a wellness dedicated zone catering to medical tourists, a cultural celebration district as well as a wide range of hospitality options comprising 20,000 hotel rooms catering to all types of tourists.

Once completed, the city is projected to become a year-round destination, welcoming around 180 million visitors annually.

Tourists will be able to enjoy a week-long stay without the need to leave the city or use a car. The 7km long promenades connecting all facilities will be covered during the summer and open during the winter, ensuring pleasant temperatures throughout the year.

The project will see the addition of 100 hotels and serviced apartments building, as well as designated parking areas with a capacity to host up to 50,000 cars on the ground level.

Commenting on the new project, Sheikh Mohammed said, "The growth in family and retail tourism underpins the need to enhance Dubai’s tourism infrastructure as soon as possible.

“This project complements our plans to transform Dubai into a cultural, tourist and economic hub for the two billion people living in the region around us, and we are determined to achieve our vision."

Mohammed Abdullah Al Gergawi, chairman of Dubai Holding, said the project is the result of extensive research and studies of international regional tourists’ requirements and preferences.

The new project will incorporate Dubai Cultural District, which will be the hub for national and multinational cultural festivities and events in UAE.

The Celebration Walk, similar to the Ramblas Street in Barcelona, will connect the cultural district to the rest of the mall.

Another component of Mall of the World is the Wellness District, which will cover a total area of 3 million sq ft. dedicated to providing wellness and rejuvenation services.

You guys really should change your prime investment projects from 'real-estate' to something else - Maybe making Dubai a Technological Hub of the region as it is a Business Hub where different companies open their off-shore Research & Development centers which can access manpower from different regional countries !

Mate, I am not Emirati! Dubai is built open real estate, tourism, trade, finance, aviation etc.

I don't follow UAE politics on a daily basis but I know that this is something that UAE is working on while we speak.;)

@Al Bhatti should be able to elaborate further.

@Al Bhatti can elaborate.

I meant Arabs or GCC countries...Saudi Arabia is pretty much into real-estate developments too !

KSA is building dozens of industrial cities on a world scale, dozens of new universities, research centers etc. It's a ongoing process towards full industrialization.

Don't forget that there are limits to what countries like Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, UAE and Oman can do due to their size of their population although they are growing too.

I mean UAE will never have the human resources that a 200 million big Pakistan can potentially have or has already!

But I have no doubt that the future will also be bright on that front as it is necessary.;)

Still much to do and learn though.

No I just thought that the UAE & more so Dubai has fashioned itself as a Business Hub which connects the East & the West with people & companies from either direction coming here to do business with some even opening industrial units there !

Perhaps if the UAE could attract human resource potential of a higher intellectual quality from the regional countries (as it already does) & maybe encourage more & more Emiraties to enter into Doctorate programs - It could then fashion itself as a regional Research & Development center as well !

I think that this is already happening but it is an ongoing process. UAE are really doing a wonderful job on most areas.

I do not believe that they have a capacity to become that due to their limited population. But they can become, some say that they are that already, Europe's Switzerland!

Qatar is already the Monaco of the ME.

:D

Anyway mate you are welcome to check this thread out in the meantime. Not updated for a long time but the thread will give you a good overview of the upcoming projects. Some of them the biggest of their kind in the world even!

The "new" generation of Emiratis are different from the "old" one that never had to worry about anything. Compulsory military service, high education etc.

GCC States Economy & Development

UAE is not a charity. Besides donations from UAE to the remaining world are already something well-known.

This thread is not for trolling. Either have something constructive to say about the topic or stop commenting. The end result will only be off-topic posts, nonsense and trolling as we know it on PDF.

UAE ranked among the world’s largest donor countries - Emirates 24/7

Please…..

Ha ha ha! NO I dont have constructive to say as I hate this show off called Dubai. I m off.

I really wonder how they are going to cool down the domes...

Do you guys know "sera" where you can build vegetables in winter because it can store heat...

sera%20uygulamalar%C4%B1.jpg

Same concept.... in summers those domes gonna store tremendous amounts of heat... you can power up a city with that energy you are going to spend for just cooling inside of the domes...

Remember to close the door after you as nobody cares.

@al-Hasani my dear we need to talk here.

These cheap show off Arab states, did they issue a single statement of condemnation or concern on Gaza? As far as I know, I have not seen a single statement from them in mainstream media.

When you dont have the heart to even express grief on Palestine, then dont show off your wealth. Its no use.

With all your wealth and power, can you stop Israel from doing what it is to Palestine. No you cant! When you cant express grief for Palestine then please keep this ostentatious lifestyle to your self. That is what pissed me off.

I m slamming the door shut here. And I dont even care!

Middle Eastern countries & Pakistan should collaborate to make this region invention center of the world...countries like KSA & UAE, etc have massive resources whereas Pakistan have huge manpower.
