I visited Thailand many times, but most visited place : Suvarnabhumi Airport to Eastern Seaboard Industrial Estate, Rayong. Only once to Bangkok center. Anyway I still have many Thai friends over there.

Goldern land. It is Sanskrit (Or Bali not sure) words. Sure it is a word from India. Thai language accept a lot of Sanskrit words from Cambodia.

Hmm...it has the same meaning in India...actually it is a Sanskrit word...
Su=beautiful, varna=colour, bhumi=land.....so it translates to beautiful/golden land(since golden colour is beautiful)

It is the Ramayana great story. It happened in India long time ago when the tales was about Giant tribe in Longka( May be Sri Langka today?) is fighting with Human Tribe. Perhaps this is a part of the story where giant tribe is pulling the Naga ( a mythical snake like creature). Naga in India is related to people of South East Asian tribes (like Burmese or Khmer) which are uncivilized (at that time). Perhaps Indian friend could tell more.
