Yes. most (educated) Thai knows some Sanskrit.Hmm...it has the same meaning in India...actually it is a Sanskrit word...
Su=beautiful, varna=colour, bhumi=land.....so it translates to beautiful/golden land(since golden colour is beautiful)
It is the Ramayana great story. It happened in India long time ago when the tales was about Giant tribe in Longka( May be Sri Langka today?) is fighting with Human Tribe. Perhaps this is a part of the story where giant tribe is pulling the Naga ( a mythical snake like creature). Naga in India is related to people of South East Asian tribes (like Burmese or Khmer) which are uncivilized (at that time). Perhaps Indian friend could tell more.
