KARACHI (APP): Opposition Leader in Sindh Assembly Haleem Adil Shaikh on Thursday told the assembly that dogs had bothered them as they were received a letter yesterday to monitor a campaign against dogs.

He said in complaining voice referring to the campaign that all members of the provincial assembly (MPAs) of Sindh including opposition members were asked to receive a letter to monitor a campaign against dogs.

He said, ‘We do not have power.’ He said and asked they were unaware of the situation who had to catch dogs and kill them.
Speaker Sindh Assembly Agha Siraj Durrani while responding to the Opposition Leader said that he could not comment over the judgment of the court. He said in fact it was the job of the Local Government.

They should introduce Bhang and Qawwali ordinance to tame these Sindhu canines. It has worked wonders in Punjab.

The Sindhi Dingoe will not just take your babies but also tax you disporporitonaly.
@jamahir don't even bother Indian

To invite all the dog eaters rather than exporting the dogs ...

I don't think it would work. Some Pakistani restaurant owners would happily feed you and me dog and call it goat/mutton, but they'd never put it on the menu.

I think we should consider it a good way of getting rid of the stray problem. Export them to countries where people eat them.

Stray dogs are a global problem. In India there are 35+ million of them.

Serious action should be taken. I mean not the PETA nonsense like "Oh, let us neuter them and that will be alright".

In India you are not allowed to kill stray dogs or cats. You can spend many years in prison if you do. The local police have to investigate every such incident on par with that of murder. You can only catch, vaccinate, neuter and release them in the same locality where they lived. In my opinion that's the best and most humane way of handling this situation.

The person who passed the law disallowing Indian municipal authorities from catching and killing stray dogs is that foul woman Maneka Gandhi. I think she passed this law being a central minister in the late 1990s. Thus now there are 35+ million stray dogs. Since then there have been countless dog attacks on humans and many killings too. And cats in India are on the point of extinction because of the dogs killing them.

You mention "stray cats". Maneka Gandhi and her foolish followers don't care for cats.

In my opinion that's the best and most humane way of handling this situation.

So after neutering these dogs how many years should we wait for the dogs to die by themselves so that they are no longer able to attack humans and cats ?

These dogs do more work and are more productive than the Sindhi feudal lords.
I hope they manage to attack and drive off the slave drivers of Sind.

One way of keeping an area free of stray animals is by ensuring cleanliness, if there is no garbage accumulation, no items of food littering the streets then stray animals automatically stay away. Years ago the Latin Quarter (Fontinhas) of Panjim in Goa was plagued with stray dogs, cats and other assorted cattle. The area upped their cleanliness quotient, got rid of all open garbage and today the narrow cobble streets are free of all such issues (I live here, so can attest to the same) Large areas of some Indian cities such as Surat, Navi Mumbai, Indore, Bhopal etc have a minuscule problem with stray animals by just cleaning up a bit.

What you say is true to an extent because your area wanted to remove the problem but in my city there are many dog-lovers and the dogs survive because of them. These dog lovers are quarrelsome and fight with municipal trucks which come to take away the dogs for neutering.

A few years ago there was a woman in my neighborhood who would prepare rice specially for the dogs, pack the rice in plastic bags and deliver these bags to the dogs on her scooter by leaving the packs at street corners. I told her off and since then she seems to have stopped delivering those bags.

People like her and Maneka Gandhi should be taken to court.

In Kerala too the people are active against stray dogs and have instituted groups. The proprietor of the V-Guard company is active in one of the groups.
