Does the U.S need a Fighter-Bomber??

when the U.S retired the F-111 and F-14 we lost a lot of our long range fighter capability besides the F-15E, so wouldn't it beeasy to develop and build a fighter bomber to take advantage of lesson learned from the F-35, and put that knowledge into a better air frame for long range?

I'm thinking the aircraft has to be 90 feet long and have a MTOW of 60 tonnes
weapons bay is 7.5 meters long and 2 meters wide enough space to carry either 8 1000 pound JDAMS, 16 SDB, or 4 JSOW-ER in the internal weapons bay. 6 hard points external to carry external fuel and other weapons.

this aircraft will be swept wing, partial stealth like the F-15SE to save on costs.

each bird shouldn't cost more than $150 million dollars. R&D shouldn't be more than $5 billion, buy 250, total program cost to design and build shouldn't be more than $50 billion.

we can start retiring the B-52 and some of F-15Eoffset the costs, and less buys of the F-35

a fleet of 100 B-1B, 21, B-2, 100 B-21, and 250 FB-XXX would be ideal

I think US is already working on hypersonic stealth bomber ... So why do you think a fighter bomber is required when US already have B2 and its more advance sibling is in the process ?

I think your F22 and F35 can easily achieve air superiority after which B2, B-XXX (new bobmber and B51 can make havoc ...

Your only possible adversary is China and Russia which will give you a tough time (infact might be able to push you back atleast in defence mode) but for them, I don't think that fighter bomber can be of advantage ... For me it's better to use air superiority and multi role fighters to provide air cover to stealth bombers in SEAD missions ...

Yes, but I read that you are in process of development of replacement of SR-72 with bombing capability and it is supposed to be inducted in next 10 years ... Am I correct ?

the USA should`ve inducted and developed the Fb-22 concept it excellent bombing plane huge payload and stealth capabilities also it share some components withe the F-22 which would`ve brought down the cost..
