Do looks matter in a relationship?

Have you ever asked yourself why do you want to lose weight or get that perfect hair-cut?

A lot of us lay so much emphasis on outward beauty, on the colour of our skin, our hair and eyes that we forget to appreciate the beauty that lies within. Who doesn't want to look good?

It raises your confidence level making you feel great about yourself. But when it comes to choosing your partner or even friends how much emphasis do you lay on looks?

Does love diminish if the person's appearance doesn't match your appearance? Is our initial judgement of people based on superficial criterion alone?

Hi,

When you grow up together and know each other as children---looks don't matter as much.

But they do matter a lot when you meet the other person in the later stage of your life---and also---depends when many drinks you had----what is your hormone level---how desperate you are---and things like that.

I think for an adult---the initial judgement---specialy for a male is how horny he is at that time.

There are factors far more important than looks at play in a relationship!

Smell is one of them. Its been scientifically proven that couples who do not like each other's smell/body smell (pheromones play a role here and its mostly a sub-conscious stimulant) are more likely to end their relationship.

So looks matter only in the initial phases of a relationship, but as it progresses, other factors come into play.

Personal experience, smell matters a lot, when you go "Down to Australia" !!! ;)

Looks definately matter for relationships atleast to initiate. That is the first thing which describes personality.. Later on, it may get change based on the various factors like way of communication, Odours, responsibility, Sensibility, humor etc.

Not only in Australia buddy it happens everywhere. In US, They complain us for stinking with Garlic and Onions which is heavily found on our meals.

Even in India, There is always an "smell" issue between North & South Indian because of use of Mustard oil and Coconut oil. :partay::partay:

Talking about bad odor and mating. I read in a book that in middle ages girls would eat garlic/onions or rub it on their clothes so that they can use bad odor to keep away unwanted suitors. Girls were polite and would use these tricks so that the men who come close would be disgusted by the smell and their infatuation will melt away. While for men they preferred they will no bad odor of garlic.
