When talking ancient super powers, it's usually Rome of the West, and China of the east.

But there's not much talk for India for non history buffs or even history buffs.

Some might say there is no India, but country always change, Rome never rose again, and Chinese borders changed so many times, that who can say what is and isn't China other than a few core provinces.

Now it could be said that China is more important in terms of economy today and impact, but if we are honest, to the casual western we aren't' different at all, third world and all.

So why isn't India's history being discussed more? I think colonization has completely ruined India's image.

Bad time to have a civil war of Maratha and Mughal.

India is the only country in the world to have an Ocean named on a country's name.

well because india was always a prime market for the western world and if you aknowledge that your market or its people or culture is better than yours in terms of educational values , cultural values , health traditions ect ect. how are you gonna rule and exploit them for your benefits ...simple as that and china was discussed as china was always a great civilization and source of gun powder and silk and paper , tea for them for centuriies hope you get the point my dear sir

Europeans from Alexander to Christopher columbus are facinated by India not China, probably in china you people may not learn about India.

Ancient China is not a superpower but a civilization with good economy. Chinese never ventured out of their self imposed walls like India and they suffered invasions.

These first two lines of the entire post are enough to show the ignorance of the writer in terms of reading World history. It is quite strange to an Indian like me that a Chinese, whose inquisitive ancestors had stormed India for the last 2500 years in search of Buddhist scriptures and teachings in various gumphas and monasteries across this vast country,is able to post a crap article like this.

And when you were writing the bold part, perhaps even you did not know how featherbrained a person might look after expressing such a nonsensical view on an international forum.

Europeans know about indian subcontinent, 1) geographically you closer to them 2) through various invasion of indian subcontinent.
China is not well known until Marco Polo visited in 1200 AD. Persians and Alexander had invaded south Asia a thousand year earlier.

Chinese never ventured out? Study the history of East Asia, South East Asia and Admiral Cheng Ho.
Invasion? We are least invaded empire of ancient times. LOL study your real history, you were the most conquered.

Colonization didn't ruin India's reputation, recent events did.

They came they saw and then they burned their ships ..... right???

The expedition of Cheng Ho is not invasion. Chinese history is full of Mongol invasions and sufferings of Peasants under Imperial rulers.

Admiral Zheng He expedition includes military campaigns, he crushed Sinhalese army in Sri Lanka, the king was hauled to China. But no attempt was made to rule and plunder. Ancient China was the center of the world, we had the best of everything from technology to arts, there was no need for invasion or colonization.

Mongols? They lived next to us for 2000 years but only succeeded once, for mere 90 years before they were driven out. No one is more success in fighting the Mongols than Chinese, LOL. Read history.

All great ancient technologies came from China. Just because we were no playground for foreign invaders, doesn't mean we were isolated. Study East Asia and SE Asia history.
