ECNEC approves Diamer Basha Dam Project Power Generation Facilities..

The ECNEC in its meeting the other day considered and approved Diamer Basha Project-Power Generation Facilities (4500MW) at a total cost of Rs. 1,236.10 billion including FEC of Rs. 598.19 billion.
The main objective of the project is to capitalize on the economical and renewable hydropower energy benefits of 4500 MW from the power generation facilities under Diamer Basha Dam project.

Images showcasing the progress of construction activities of Diamer Basha Dam. This massive and strategically important project is set to be finished by 2029 and can house up to 8.1 million acre-feet (MAF) of water, increasing irrigation capacity by providing resources for 1.23 million additional acres (MA) of land.

It can also generate 4,500 megawatts (MW) of hydroelectric energy which is environmentally sustainable and cost-effective, contributing approximately 18 billion units to the national grid yearly.

In Diamar Bhasha Dam project area, the work of laying asphalt on the peripheral road section under construction on the right bank of Indus River has been started.

After the excavation and cutting of the 51.3 km long Right Bank Peripheral Road Section Two, the asphalt work has now been started from Thorli to pave the road.
