The recently deposed crown prince of Saudi Arabia Mohammed bin Nayef has been placed under house arrest at his Jeddah palace and is barred from leaving the kingdom, in a bid to thwart any internal opposition to the prince who took his place as heir apparent, the New York Times reported Thursday.https://www.nytimes.com/2017/06/28/world/middleeast/deposed-saudi-prince-mohammed-bin-nayef.html?smid=tw-share

Mark my words: Mohammed bin Salman will be the last King of Arabia and we all will witness this.
Erdogan and West know some inside story of this rift. Both US and Turkey relaxed ...

Saudi official denies ousted crown prince under house arrest

(CNN)Saudi Arabia has denied a report that former crown prince Mohammed bin Nayef, who was ousted as next in line to the throne last week, is being held under house arrest.

A senior Saudi official described a New York Times report that Mohammed bin Nayef had been confined to his palace in Jeddah and prevented from leaving the country as "untrue, completely false and baseless."

"Nothing has changed for Prince Mohammed, except of stepping down from his government positions. He hosts guests and leaves his house on a daily basis since he has stepped down," the official told CNN Thursday. "Further, there are no restrictions on his movement whatsoever, either in or outside of Saudi Arabia."

The report comes just a week after a dramatic reshuffling of Saudi Arabia's line of succession. In a series of decrees King Salman removed his nephew Mohammed bin Nayef, 57, as crown prince and installed his 31-year-old son Mohammed bin Salman in his place.

While the reshuffle took some observers by surprise, the writing had been on the wall for some time. In recent years, the King, 81, has handed a wide range of powers to his son while seeking to enact reforms in the conservative country.

In addition to his new role as crown prince, Mohammed bin Salman was also elevated to deputy prime minister, in addition to his existing role as defense minister.

The Saudi official described the report as "unfounded rumors" started by its regional rival Iran.

CNN has reached out to the New York Times for comment and will update this story if they respond.

What's story of Osmanali .... who betrayed him ?

Osmanli (Turkish) means Ottoman (English)!!!!

You better read about how the Ottomans have agreed to give up Cyprus for the Brits in exchange for their assurance of protecting the Ottomans from the Russian invasion. You perhaps owe the Brits something that you aren't fluent in Russian today as some Azerbejanis or Uzbeiks are.

Would you post this if Sharif wasn't banned?

I've noticed the sudden influx of GCC related threads after he was banned.

Yes the British were allowed to have a base in Cyprus to ward off the expansionist Czars to keep the Muslim heartlands in safety. But, Palestine wasn't sold to the Zionists, which could have solved all the financial and political problems. As a result, the "great game" was introduced to break the Hilafet and create Israil. Sherif Hussein and the Wahabi/Sauds sold their souls to the Zionists to be a part of breaking the Hilafet!!!!

Man, live the reality of your "today", and for your own sake, don't waste your time and energy seeking aspiration from the dark past that won't luckily be repeated. Your today is much more richer, rational, logical, and interesting than what historians try to make of the past. There was no Caliphate under the Ottoman, Abbasids, or Ummayads rule.

It was just a "word" that they used to add some religious holiness to protect themselves from criticism. They fooled millions of their own people some centuries ago who had their excuse for not knowing the truth. But you now have access to information with only few clicks so there shouldn't be an excuse for you not to know.

It might be true and false:
previously Kings were chosen from son's of Ibn Saud which current king Salman is the last one .. the problem was all of them were\are old and ill .. by this change (MBS) and if he succeed to stay in power then it means a long stable and young leadership for Saudi Arabia ...
But on the other hand he is a naive and inexperienced guy in an absolute monarchy, he's in office only for 3 years and during this time he's attacked Yemen , made Qatar crisis , claimed that he intends to drag war within Iran ...None of these foreign policies initiated by him have been successful ...

So if he could overcome struggle amongst all oppositions and become king then his polices would determine the future of this kingdom...
