Dep. Speaker NA Qasim Suri at SDG conference Maldives knocks out Indian Delegation in Kashmir issue

While Foreign Minister Qureshi is doing nothing but helping India by giving peace overtures to India, rest of PTI is using any international platform to raise Kashmir issue. Dy. Speaker Qasim Suri was attending SDG Conference [Speakers' conference] in Maldives alongwith Indian delegation. He started his speech covering regional issues and then at @9:35 highlighted the Kashmir issue. He bravely continued as Indian delegation started crying and completed his statement on Kashmir despite howling of the indians. Indian media also had to cover this. A valiant effort to highlight the Kashmir situation, I doubt PML-N/PPP minister would've done such a thing:

ISLAMABAD: National Assembly Deputy Speaker Qasim Khan Suri on Sunday raised the Kashmir cause at the Sustainable Development Goals summit and apprised its participants about unconstitutional steps and atrocities being committed by Indian government against innocent people of held Kashmir.

Members of the Indian delegation at the summit led by the Lok Sabha speaker tried to interrupt Mr Suri. However, their attempt went unheeded and the deputy speaker continued his speech and apprised the participants about the volatile situation in India-held Kashmir.

The entire occupied valley had been converted into a heavily militarised zone and people were being stopped from performing their religious rites, Mr Suri said, according to a message received here from Maldives.

The deputy speaker stressed upon the South Asian countries to support Kashmiris for their right to self-determination under the auspicious of United Nations.

He said means of communication had been disconnected in the occupied valley aggravating the agony of its people, and that the international community must raise the Kashmir issue at appropriate level by asserting pressure on India for its resolution in accordance with the UN resolutions and aspiration of Kashmiri people.

He reiterated Pakistan’s stance for morally and diplomatically supporting Kashmiris, saying that the attitude of India towards Kashmir issue was putting South Asia peace and development at stake.

Heated exchange between Pakistani, Indian delegates in Colombo

A heated exchange of words had reportedly broken out between delegates from Pakistan and India at an event held in Colombo today.

The heated exchange of words was over the Kashmir issue, reports said.

A delegation from Pakistan had questioned the Indian delegation on the decision by India to revoke Kashmir’s special status nullifying autonomy granted to the state.

However the Indian delegation had asserted that it was an internal matter.

The session had to be temporarily suspended as a result of the tense situation.

The Parliament of Sri Lanka together with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) is hosting parliamentarians from across South Asia to celebrate the 30-year anniversary of the Convention of the Rights of the Child.

Delegates from India and Pakistan are attending the event.
