Denel Artillery Reaches new milestone

Yes, i hope next year around October. This year we are battling severe drought until this is put to rest, i cannot move about.

You are most welcome, have a good trip brother.

Could happen with South African having Indian background.
No indian background what so ever - not even in past 700 years :).

It is because they were and are lazy/useless. Filed my application; go there after 3rd day, it is sitting at the same place on the desk, they have not even opened it; come back next day, go there same thing, come back next week. Nothing happened - the flipping file was in exactly the same location. The guy was drinking tea and eating oily samosa - he opens my application and oily fingers on all the paper work. That is a no no; official documents and oily finger prints. My top blew at that point, you are making me drive 380km one way and at least call me; I took my application and tore it up and got my refund as well. The lazy sods were refusing to refund the application fees. My take is your ambassador going to refund the petrol i have been pumping into my bakkie all this time.

I demanded to see the consulate or first secretary; 'they are in meeting' all BS. They were not there running erands for their side line businesses of carpets they are importing via diplomatic couriers to get past VAT.

I was really pissed. My take was if this is how the consulate is; what will be the state of affairs when i get there. Of course you cannot judge a book by the colour. Now with e-Visa, i hope i have better luck than to deal with these retards in the consulate.

If I was having difficulties, even Pak own citizens have complained of even worse behaviour they have to endure. For example - birth certificate registration - an acquantaince was in limbo, his kid was born here and he needed to register his birth. They tell him to go to Karachi to register - ok. put 1+1 together - kid is a few weeks old, you need to register the birth so that passport can be issued.

I had much easier time getting iranian visa than Pak visa; that only because of my great grand father's and family buried there. At least they understood why i was making the trip to visit their graves. And no, I am not iranian either.

You are most welcome, have a good trip brother.
Much appreciated. WIll keep everyone posted. I got some good pointers from this forum on how to plan the trip.

Kebabs are awaiting me in Pak :)....

Denel Artillery Reaches New MilestoneYou are here: Media Centre / News & Press
12 November 2019

Denel’s global leadership in long-range artillery was on display last week when record distances and unmatched accuracy were achieved during testing in the Northern Cape.

Long-range guns manufactured by Denel Land Systems (DLS) used ammunition produced by Rheinmetall Denel Munition (RDM) to reach targets at an average range of 76.2km. The tests were conducted at the Alkantpan Test Range and witnessed by local and international military representatives, government agencies and defence industry observers.

Danie du Toit the Group CEO of Denel says this is a new milestone in long range artillery capability. The test results exceeded expectations, both in distances achieved and accuracy. It underscores Denel’s reputation in the design and manufacturing of world-class artillery and the manufacturing of ammunition which enables it to reach long-range targets with unrivalled precision.

The main artillery systems used during the testing were the G6-52 self-propelled and a German PZH2000 mounted gun. The ballistic system is based on the technology developed in the late 1990s and has been consistently improved over the past two decades.

“The artillery produced by Denel Land Systems is still considered to be the yardstick against which all other long-range systems are measured,” says du Toit. “With the latest tests we have raised the bar even further and I have no doubt that defence forces and potential customers will take note of our achievements.”

The projectiles used for the tests were V-LAP ammunition designed and manufactured by Rheinmetall Denel Munition for high-firing pressures and muzzle velocities.

Du Toit says the achievement demonstrates the ability of various divisions within the Denel group to produce a world leading ballistic system which is able to compete in the global defence industry.
Buddy,
Where is denel currently standing on in terms of ramjet powered BVR like Meteor or PL-21/XX ?
