Delhi hopes Dhaka will address Hefazat's anti-Modi protests

A world largest democracy wants another democracy not to allow people their democratic right of the protest. Are we sure India is a practicing democracy now a days?

The below threats and protest do paint a picture of radicalization into Indian society.

India continues its convoluted descent into further radicalization and Hindu-ization of their society....

They have realized this (religion) is the only way to hold their fractured (and effed up) republic together....

It's not bad , but the way it's celebrated now is surely bad, and that's why people are turning their back.

Look at the Hindu idols , they are new invention in pohela boishakh celebration.

Why Muslims will be participating in the ceremony, can you provide one good reason?

If govt can return the Bengali nature of this festival, people will join in mass again.

Worship has many different style and nature. When you use symbols that is directly related to another religion ( even if it's monotheistic ) ,still it represent their culture.

As star of David, there is no harm in it , but it's symbol for Judaism so when the case is festival , we can join a Jewish festival but can't claim it as our own. Same goes for cross , you can join in Christian festival, but can't claim anything as Muslim culture or secular culture where cross is presented.

And Hinduism is polytheistic in nature , so there is no way for is to call it as our own culture.

So either it will regain it's secular/neutral nature , otherwise this is not following our culture

Excellent post @Atlas bhai, the recent mongol shovajatra have turned way too Hindu with overt symbols of Kolkata Hindu culture.

These are subconscious efforts to instill idol-worshipping and shirq into our culture, which we did not even have say, ten/fifteen years ago. These Kolkata influence is too strong with the Chetona A-holes.

I can understand us adopting Islamic modernism, but these Indian influences are just too alien to us.

The Lakshmi owl is a Vahana (Vehicle) of Durga in Hinduism.

These are ancient Hindu idols found during archeologist digs...blown up larger.

This guy is so on point...

If I am a Muslim, I'd rather not go to this event, and I will also discourage other Muslims to go.

This culture is alien to our Islamic values and beliefs.

Bangladeshis feel vindicated that Godi media is wrong and they were always right.

Indian products should be boycotted and the less Indian govt. poke its nose into Bangladesh affairs, the better it is.

As long as Hindutvabadis got the message to buzz off, Bangladeshis are happy.

Bangladeshis don't need Indian Govt. for anything.

Walaikum Tafat.
for that youll need to get rid of hasina and aziz! they are indian pawns

Very well explained bhai!

Any other symbol/idol unless you see the person worshipping and he clarifies his devotion to be towards a Hindu deity cannot be said is an hindu idol.
So again if no muslim or hindus are worshipping the "idols" itself then what's the problem here?
A side note what if the hindus did worship the idols and muslims only celebrated as new year knowing where to draw the line, would that be accepted?

Read the reply of @Bilal9 bhai, it's the answer of your post,he explained very well.

Specially the underlined part.

Dada don't put words in MY MOUTH.

Let me say what I have in MY MIND.

Don't muddy the waters as you all are liable to do.

I'm fine with people celebrating Bengali New Year.

Wear new clothes, go have Panta Ilish, whatever. Knock yourself out.

Just don't come up with the propaganda that we in Bangladesh are OK with Hindu-ani culture that benefits India.

If you want to wear dhoti, pray to an idol - please don't call yourself a Muslim.

You would not be a Muslim in my book. That is just blatant cultural appropriation and fakery.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cultural_appropriation

So - I ask the question again:

WHAT ELEMENT OF BANGLADESHI MUSLIM CULTURE HAVE KOLKATA HINDU DADAs (OR EVEN NON-BENGALI INDIANS, FOR THAT MATTER) ADOPTED ??

IF THEY HAVE NOT, THEN WHY SHOULD WE IN BANGLADESH ADOPT KOLKATA HINDU-ANI CULTURE ??

IF CHETONA INDIA-SYCOPHANT BANGLADESHI IDIOTS DON'T HAVE AN ANSWER, THEN YOU SHOULD SHUT YOUR COLLECTIVE TRAPS.

You are confusing culture with religion and therein lies the problem, we see shared bengali identity and you see hindu imposition, we see bengali cultural values and you see religion. The very fact you are using hindu bengali culture and muslim bengali culture is showing the problem.
If that's the lens you want to see the world in then very well I can't change your mindset. Bengali itself has it's roots in Sanskrit, holy language of hindus, if this mindset continues soon enough Bengali language might be banned stating it is hindu language.

Money quote:

"As far as the violence is concerned, we have always been against fundamentalism and extremism. We are confident that the Bangladesh government will address the challenge," Indian External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Arindam Bagchi told the media in Delhi, according to a UNB report.

India is literally calling the kettle black. And from a country with a long history of communal violence. Nevertheless, I don't see a problem with having protests but the violence is never called for nor the attack on Hindu houses of worship.

Even though Hefazat-e-Islam claims to be a "non-political" outfit, the group has gained prominence after the fall of Jamaat-e-Islami, Bangladesh's largest Islamist political party.

That's because Jamaat-e-Islami members -- those who weren't executed by Hasina -- made their way into this group. It's Hasina who created this monster by forcibly silencing JI through undemocratic and extrajudicial means.

And are these Islamists really friends of Bangladesh? Wasn't JI not only opposed to the creation of Bangladesh but also Pakistan? Enemies become friends and friends become enemies.

Dada hashalen - BS has limits. This is getting to the comical level. Kolkata folks don't even speak pure Bangla much any more. They speak some strange mix of Benglish or nowadays - Hinglish.

Bengali is alive today because Bangladesh exists.

In WB Bangla culture/language is more or less dead (forget Hindu or Muslim types).

Kolkata kids under the age of say 18 don't even know how to read and write Bengali. See some Chandril videos sometimes.

We in Bangladesh have far bigger Boimelas than Kolkata does, we publish far more Bengali literature, have far more Bangla literature readers and arrange symposia through Bangla Akademi here. Not that I am a fan, but just for the record.

Our TV media is better funded and better run qualitatively than any Bengali Media from Kolkata.

Tollywood directors salivate at the prospect of getting work directing movies in Bangladesh for our market. For WB market - the numbers are too small.

It is our work for our official language that led to Bengali computer font development for desktop publishing and website development - as early as 1990's.

Our rock-musicians sing in Bengali and are far more popular in both Banglas than your Kolkata bands, and because of good qualitative talent reasons. In fact Bengali rock (various genres) is a confirmed leader in subcontinental progressive music movement starting as early as the 1980's.

Bengali is our national language, not an optional one, or one we consider in second thought. We know how to respect it.

Kolkata people don't.

Most of the signboards in Kolkata are in Hindi.

UP and Bihari non-Bengali speakers don't need to learn Bangla, neither speak the official language of the WB state.

Back office companies overtly put up notices in Kolkata that locals won't be hired. We know it is causing a lot of heartburn among younger TMC folks. To us it's a joke about how Kolkata Bengalis are marginalized in their own states by outsiders (especially cow-belters).

Bangalir shomman apnara rakhtey parenni dadara.

Also read the following,

So - long story short, if 170 Million people in Bangladesh decide to speak in specific Dhakaiya Bengali (not Kolkata Bengali), and decide what our culture should be (meaning that we don't want idolator appropriations in our brand of Bengali culture), then who are you to decide otherwise ??

Who gave you the right to pass judgment for us ??

If we decide that we would rather have a different future for our culture, free from Indian influence (which is the general consensus nowadays), do you have any say so?

You see the audacity you are suggesting ?

There is no lens. Our country, our rules. as plain as that. Case closed.

BTW Bengali DOES NOT have its roots in Sanskrit or is a HINDU language (your source comes from non-scholarly propaganda), it was developed from Magadhi Prakrit which was Buddha's language in Magadha, where he was born. Magadhi Prakrit developed into Pali, then transformed into Bengali. Please read up on it.

The Pāli Canon or Tipiṭaka and is the sacred language of Theravāda Buddhism, which was very strong in Bangladesh before we converted to Islam. There are Buddhist Stupas (adjacent to former Mahajanapadas or city centers) all over Bangladesh. Bangladesh was a primary center of Buddhist scholarship (Paharpur, Mainamati) when Nandigram, Sutanuti were Charal villages. Kolkata was nowhere to be found at that time. Kolkata became great because of the Murshidabad nawabs, then with the British as Capital of India.

Buddhism spread to IndoChina from Bangladesh (Myanmar then Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, China, Korea, Japan). One of the top Buddhist scholars was from Bikrampur North of Dhaka (Atisha Dipankara).

Similarly - Theravāda Buddhism also spread to Sri Lanka from Bangladesh as a royal entourage was sent there from here. The proof is all there in genetic markers...

I am not from kolkata I won't comment, but the people I know all know how to read and write Bengali and are proud of it's culture and arts. I am quite sure even many people from Bangladesh admire how strongly people from Kolkata promote their language and culture despite population /resources, this same promotion that has you worried?.
I agree Bangladesh being a country has far more resorces to enrich and promote Bengali culture, but I am not doing comparisons here about who is better, when did I? I am just stating pointers where the Hindu Muslim conflict is causing dents into the Bengali identity as a whole.
It is believed all the prakrits came out of vedic Sanskrit, prakrits being the language of the common folk, and being a prakrit doesn't mean it doesn't have dharmic identity as a whole, be it Hindu or Buddhist, prakrits were widely used to spread dharmic beliefs. Do you know Gautama Buddha is revered as an avatar of Lord Vishnu by hindus?
My point remains the same if you see everything by hindu muslim lens, it's not long before even language is targeted stating the same facts as above.

What can Dhaka say?
BD can ask Indian Modi to relinquish India's two anti-Muslim laws and Hefazat will be under control. Moreover, what Hasina Bibi can do when in her inner mind she was expecting protests against that Chaiwala Modi?

.
someone was saying to use bd zindabad and not joy bangla
I said it in some other thread. Why should we shout Joy Bangla as if we are not a part of Hindu Bengali society? Do not forget there are two separate flows among the Bangla speakers, maybe it is based on religion. Nevertheless, there is a difference.

The name of our country is Bangladesh. So, certainly, we should shout Bangladesh Zindabad!! What is wrong with it when Joy Bangla was only the BAL slogan during the war, and now there is also a state in India called Bangla?

So the mukti bahini who were shouting Joy Bangla were all at fault and were politically affiliated stooges according to you?
What about Joy Bangladesh? Is that acceptable?
The separate flows used to be mainly about dialect mainly between west and east, but now it's becoming hindu muslim.

You are missing the point and dancing around the issue.

  • The focus in Bangladesh is to forge a "Unique and Separate Identity" completely different from India, free from Indian influence.
  • Our majority religion is separate from that of India, so is our cultural identity, which is more or less homogenous.
  • Whether India and Indians are comfortable with this situation of a culturally and religiously independent Bangladesh is no concern of ours, and honestly - most here don't care.

Do we have any bangladeshi hindus here?
I'm really interested to know what they feel on the same
