Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Thursday accused the Prime Minister of lying on India’s border standoff issue with China after the Ministry of Defence officially acknowledged that Chinese soldiers intruded into Indian territory in eastern Ladakh in May.

Quoting a news report as per which the Ministry of Defence has officialy admitted to Chinese transgression in Ladakh, Rahul Gandhi asked on Twitter, “Why is the PM lying?”

The Ministry of Defence document, uploaded on the ministry's website, acknowledges that the Chinese intruded into the Indian territory in Ladakh in May, stated a report in The Times of India.

As per the MoD report, the Chinese intrusion in Ladakh in May took place much before the deadly clashes in Galwan on June 15. Twenty Indian Army soldiers had died in violent clashes in Galwan Valley.

“The Chinese side transgressed in the areas of Kugrang Nala (near Patrolling Point-15, north of Hot Springs), Gogra (PP-17A) and north bank of Pangong Tso on May 17-18,” the document on the defence ministry’s website was quoted by the daily.

The defence ministry has used the word 'transgressed' as a euphemism for 'intrusion' across the Line of Actual Control (LAC).

The Defence Ministry report added that the the stand-off with China could be prolonged and the evolving situation may need prompt action.
The MoD document has come amid the ongoing deadlock between India and China in Pangong Tso. Even after the fifth round of Corps Commander-level talks, disengagement between Indian and Chinese troops has not been satisfactory at Pangong Lake and Depsang.

TRANSGRESSION LED TO MILITARY AND DIPLOMATIC TENSIONS

The transgressions created military and diplomatic tensions which was followed by hectic rounds of negotiations after which the Chinese troops withdrew.

The formal process of disengagement of troops began on July 6, a day after a nearly two-hour telephonic conversation between NSA Doval and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on ways to bring down tension in the face-off points.

While the Chinese army pulled back from Galwan Valley and certain other areas, but the withdrawal of troops has not moved forward from the Finger Four and Eight in Pangong Tso as demanded by India.

China also has not completed withdrawal of troops from Gogra areas.

Someone should remind Rahul gandhi that Nehru sent people to jail for asking the make the china report public.

That report has now been deleted from MoD website.

Lets compare the actions and reactions of Modi's India and compare it to Nehru's India. Shall we ?

On 20 Oct 1959 in Ladakh, 2 members of an Indian Police Party went missing. Back then the Indian police was manning the 2,500 mile long border with Tibet. A search party comprising of 20 policemen was sent to look for the missing members.

They were attacked by Chinese soldiers with automatic weapons and hand grenades. Our men fired back but were overwhelmed. 10 of ours died and many others were injured. This is definitively similar to the Galwan incident in the way that a substantial number of our men were killed by sudden Chinese aggression. What has been starkly different though, is the reaction of the Indian side.

Let’s compare.

1.

1959 — There were no casualties on the Chinese side.

2020 — At least 43 Chinese have been confirmed dead. An ex-PLA officer said over 100 were killed. This could very well be true seeing China’s reaction post the bloody tussle. US intelligence report 35 chinese dead.

2.

1959 — The Chinese returned our dead after 3 weeks.

2020 — Very soon after the clash, Indian soldiers who were captured by China were returned. And India too had taken many Chinese hostage.

3.

1959 — The Nehru government sent diplomatic notes to the Chinese Ambassador informing them of the events. Total Pusillanimity.

2020 — India has unleashed an elaborate diplomatic charge at China in collaboration with world powers. Major economic decisions are also being taken.

4.

1959 — After the Ladakh incident, Nehru said in Parliament: “…at no time since Independence have our defenses been in better condition...” Complete and Utter lies.

2020 — PM Modi openly acknowledged the martyrdom of the soldiers and categorically said India would not yield an inch.

5.

1959 — General Thorat met Krishna Menon as he wasn’t being heard and the situation on the LAC was serious. But Menon dismissed his fears saying there would be no war.

2020 — PM Modi himself went to Ladakh and met the CDS, COAS, 14 Corps Commander and Northern Army Commander.

6.

1959 — Nehru’s DM Menon said to Thorat that any problem along the LAC would be solved diplomatically.

2020 — India has moved many of its lethal land and air assets to the LAC. It is carrying out combat day and night patrols signalling to the Chinese a firm intention.

Now draw your own conclusion and take pappu seriously at your own risk.

. .
How the heck did you fall back to Nehru? Did I mention Nehru anywhere. Grow a pair and face 2020.

LOL.... read the facts. We have grown a pair and are facing 2020.

Pappu and his lap dogs can whine all they want.

The present stand-off with China is likely to be prolonged, said Defence Ministry in a status report on border tension in Eastern Ladakh. The ministry has put out an update on Chinese aggression on Line of Actual Control on its website.

The report stated that the situation in Eastern Ladakh arising from “unilateral aggression by China continues to be sensitive and requiring close monitoring and prompt action based on evolving situation.”

The ministry stated that Chinese aggression has been increasing along the Line of Actual Control and more particularly in Galwan Valley since 5 May, 2020.

The Chinese side transgressed in the areas of Kugrang Nala, Gogra and north bank of Pangong Tso lake on 17 May and 18 May.

“Consequent to this, ground level interactions were held between armed forces of both sides to defuse the situation. Corps Commander Level Flag Meeting was held on 6 June. 2020. However, a violent face-off incident took place between the two sides on 15 June, 2O2O resulting in casualties of both sides,” the ministry stated.

It further pointed out that subsequently second Corps Commander Level Meeting took place on 22 June, 2020 to discuss modalities of de-escalation process.

“While engagement and dialogue at military and diplomatic level is continuing to arrive at mutually acceptable consensus the present stand-off is likely to be prolonged,” the report stated. The report ended with saying that “prompt action based on evolving situation” should be taken.

The third meeting took place on 30 June and it went on for around 12 hours. During the meeting, all contentious areas of stand-off were discussed to stabilise the situation.

China had agreed to move back in Pangong Tso but did not. India claims Line of Actual Control at Finger 8 and Chinese are sitting between Finger 4 and Finger 5. Similar differences exist in Depsang and Demchok.

The fourth meeting took place on 14 July where India and China military delegates held deliberations about disengagement of troops and materials at the borders for 15 long hours. Indian delegates asked Chinese People’s Liberation Army troops to completely withdraw from Pangong Lake and Depsang.

The fifth meeting that took place on 2 August made it clear that China’s commitment for disengagement at the border in Eastern Ladakh was non-committal and the Indian authorities directed armed forces to prepare for a long haul.
