We just built one the best environment friendly coal power plant with capacity of 1230MW with efficiency around 60-65%. and it costs us around 500M usd.

You must be very naive about the cost of a normal coal-fired power plant. The estimated cost is roughly $1 million per mW. So,a 1230 mw plant will cost around $1.5 billion. Learn about power plant construction and come again to speak against Matarbari plant in BD. Do not speak against it, because you just happen to know nothing about this kind of plants. Only bla bla bla!!

Also, why do you think an environment friendly power plant can be 65% efficient. You are living in a delusional world. Stop bickering with fictitious data on costing and efficiency. We know our things better than you will ever know.

I am not sure, but the Owners of Rampal power plant were indecisive about introducing costly supercritical technology. But, are you sure now the policy has now been changed?

BHEL’s scope of work in the project includes design, engineering, manufacture, supply, construction, erection, testing & commissioning of 2x660 MW thermal sets with ultra-supercritical parameters on turnkey basis. The scope also includes setting up of a jetty and a river-water intake system. In order to meet stringent environmental norms, BHEL shall also install a state-of-the-art FGD plant and Dry bottom ash handling system.

Are you sure Rampal was to be fitted with ultra-supercritical technology from the very planning stage or it is a new addition? Even if so, the GoB higher ups could not probably understand what is what, and they did not defend the project against all those bad propaganda against it.

Now, it is the responsibility of the govt to convince the UNESCO. Govt failed in PR and people also do not trust it. Moreover, people are fed with a continuous barrage of anti-India propaganda, which is sure to win public support.

What is the main argument anyway based on? Is the prevailing wind direction statistically toward the Sunderban area and it is a downward draft too (i.e acting as natural horizontal flue)? This is the only main issue I can see environmentally....because otherwise like you have said many times most of the pollutant is already inherently in the air to begin with from much larger world polluters than BD.

@Nilgiri why they bring Japan quality in every thing what exactly they gonna do out of the world for them. JICA even have done many projects in Pakistan in India.

Easier to sweep corruption costs under the carpet using "quality" excuse... than admit head on there is structural problem.

Hit upon the motherlode guys, found a video made by the govt. about Matarbari situation as of August - but is quite lengthy at 30 minutes. Fast forward through I guess....
