Infantry Fighting Vehicle

The Czech Republic Army has detailed new acquisitions for 2019 including 210 pieces of tracked Infantry Fighting Vehicles (IFV) for which it plans to invite four manufacturers and conclude the contract by August this year.

The MoD plans to ink the deal for 14,000 attack rifles and 20,000 pistols with Ceska zbrojovka by March 2019; and 62 TITUS type armoured personnel carriers before April 2019 with ELDIS Pardubice.

The combined worth of the three contracts is over $2 billion. The IFVs and TITUS armoured personal carriers are expected to be delivered to the Army between 2020 and 2025, the Czech MoD stated in late December.

Lubomír Metnar, Minister of Defence will approach Israel for the purchase of eight Medium Air Defence Mobile Radars (MADR). The $129 million contract will be signed by mid-2019, and the first radar will be operational in the Czech Republic within 22 months.

The ministry has also signed the contract for 16 RBS-70NG SAAB air defence missile systems worth $42 million, deliveries of which will take place between 2020 and 2021, the MoD report stated.
