In a rather sudden development, Lahore High Court (LHC) has ordered that CSS exams (Central Superior Services examination) will be taken in Urdu language from next year i.e. 2018.

Advocate Saif Ur Rehman has filed a petition in LHC asking the court to publish a written judgement ordering the Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC) to conduct its CSS Exams in Urdu.

Justice Atir Mehmood has today taken a decision on the petition and ordered that the examination should now be taken in Urdu language. The order says that this should be done in line with the Supreme Court of Pakistan’s decision last year.

The court remarked that due to the limited amount of time, the regulation cannot be enforced for the 2017 examinations which are due to be held next month. However, the examination should be conducted in Urdu from now on.

On the other hand, it was previously reported that 98 percent of the candidates fail to clear the exam while 92 percent of CSS exam candidates fail in English language which makes little sense considering the main purpose of the examination is not to test the English language skills but the candidates’ authority on other fields of life including their degree subjects.

However, until the official language is switched to Urdu in all government departments, candidates passing these exams in Urdu would face far more trouble when they start civil service jobs. The general paperwork and official language needs to be strictly Urdu before the CSS candidates are chosen using the Urdu language exams.

The Supreme Court issued an order in 2015 asking all government dealings to be done in Urdu so that Urdu could become the official language of Pakistan. All federal government offices were to take steps in fulfilling the court’s order. The order was issued by a three member bench led by Chief Justice Jawad S. Khawaja and took into consideration several petitions on the matter asking the court to take action and make Urdu the official language of Pakistan as per the constitution of Pakistan.

i have heard English was the most important thing in css exams.

this chutya is taking Pakistan on the path of destruction similar to Bhutto..one side he is appeasing the mullahs and other side he is isolating the education system..A CSS in Urdu is no good as only 8% citizens are native speakers beside URDU is very difficult language as compared to English. It is also very time consuming to write..this is linguistic fascism very much like one imposed in East Pakistan..

Interesting and an admirable step however, it will be impossible for applicants to give CSS exam in Urdu the next year. You have to first teach all secondary and higher school as well as unversity syllabus to students in Urdu. Without these perquisite reform, this order will probably go the same way as the Supreme Court order that required all government and banking forms to be in Urdu.

Next year Court in Pakistan will rule what people can eat on weekdays monday Gobhi, Tuesday Daal, Thurday Tinda alu

Is Islam the only religion in the country??
If we are living to appease some idealogy then we are automatically a fascist state where appeasing the ideology is more important than the people. And it is portrayed by our generally f-cked up situation. Suicide blast do not happen in the name of Piccaso!

Rules should be made to accommodate the people, not some religion!

The assumption that taking exams in Urdu will produce a better class of bureaucrats in the CSS may not be true.

Yeah! Exactly Urdu is vast and difficult language and CSS exams on the other hand very difficult so candidates ka Allah hi hafiz:p:

CSS conversation from English to Urdu should occur in steps .....
Any abrupt change will create disturbance & confusion ......

A very welcome decision indeed. If Pakistan wants to develop on all the fronts, it must start respecting its culture and identity. This relic of colonial past should have ended decades ago but Pakistan failed to do so due to the eternally disgraceful slave-minded badmashiya hijacked the country and perpetuated slavery post-independence..and now the self-hating libturds will come with boxing gloves to take down the court because it hurts their vested interests. We must ask them who is the main audience of the DMG (district management group)...Is it some foreigners and tourists or millions of Urdu and other local language speaking people of Pakistan?

The bureaucracy needs to be selected from the masses, and its goal should be to serve the people and communicate with them in their language, after all they live on their taxes...people of the Pakistan are the owner of this country and not the slaves. The number of native Urdu speaking people may be small but it is understood and spoken by 90% of the population from Karachi to Torkham and its one the main uniting force and QA clearly stood by it.. while English is neither Pakistan's indigenous language, nor it is widely understood.. at max 15-18% (I'm being generous: literacy rate is 50-55% and that too based on a ludicrous definition) of the population can understand and communicate in English with reasonable fluency.

Living and travelling through the EU and rest of the developed countries, I see their people are really proud of their language and culture despite the fact many of them can speak English and mostly far better than the desi libturds (their hard hitting accents) will never advocate English be their official language. I challenge the libturds to propose English as the national and administrative language to a German, French, Swede, Swiss, Spanish, Italian, Polish, Finnish, Norwegian, Russian, Chinese, Japanese, South Korean or any other..etc etc.. and record their reaction on video and share with us the uncut unedited version :taz:

Long live Pakistan :pakistan: Long live Urdu ( I wrote this comment in English to comply with the rules of the forum).

Regards,

War & Peace

pehle 1 class ki science ki book urdu mei parha du aur poora justice ka nizaam urdu mei kar du. It is failure of the governments and state that this type of decision had to come from a judge. The people in the government are needed to wake up and bring reforms into the country. Moreover, this decision is unfair to the students of CSS. It is an unimplementable decision, which shows the level of the current predicament that we are living in.
