I am from a state which has a significant presence of CPM and they have ruled this state for close to 30 years......

If one go by the history of Kerala, CPM should have got 14 - 17 seats in kerala during general elections, and they have got half of it, shows the state which they are in....... The kind of performance which current govt is showing, the normal CPM would have been all over the place and they would be doing everything to defame the govt, and create awareness for next election....... I cant see any significant actions from them..... They are in cross roads and do not know which way to head, because their ideology and their way of politics are out dated......

This was one party which did not say anything against Chinese during 1962 war!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Too much outdated... They are against everything like Better relationship with the west, trade , reforms, business...
THey like China, but are against their model in India.. They are a bane in India.. They are the reason WB, Kerala fared badly in industrial sector..

Their backbone was trade unions and their support from poor families and the workers...... But The number of poor people (in Kerala) has reduced to a huge extend, and they no longer are the tekhedar's of poor or trade unions...... When it comes to trade unions every union behaves exactly the same and there is no difference between CITU or INTUC....

My uncle had a real bad experience in Kerala.. He had went to Tiruvanandapuram with a single suitcase.. He refused a porter , as he doesnt really need it.. When he came out of the station and boarded a taxi, porters surrounded him and started demanding money.. They told him, he had no right to carry his own case inside station, as the porters are there for the purpose.. He was asked to pay up .. CITU unions.. These were the situation of Kerala some 15 years back,, Not sure now..
The failure of the CPM is its failure to re-orient themselves to the aspirations of the middle class.. Even the lowest poor now has a smartphone, and he expects better services. CPM still harps on free goodies...
And CPM are the biggest hypocrites in India. They protest when someone converts to Hinduism. But they keep a mum if people are converted from Hinduism through freebies or money.

i wanted to reply to all the anti-socialist hate in the above comments... please do read my previous post again, it is logically valid... those members didn't even think of the contributions the communist movement has given to india... and by insulting communism the members are insulting iqbal and bhagat singh.
