GoI, in a message, has informed Dhaka that a conspiracy is under way to assassin Sheikh Hasina and India is very worried about this.
Anand bazaar New Delhi reporter Jayant Ghosal says in his report titled, "Same as her father, Hasina also has been alerted by Delhi," that the GoI has expressed its weariness in a message sent to BD govt. GoI informed that a conspiracy is going on to kill her. GoI asked her to take precautionery measures.
Anand Bazaar also said that the GoI has referred to a previous caution it sent to Dhaka around the time when BDR Pilkhana pillage was going on. It was sent via Pinak Ranjan Chakravarty, the Indian High Commissioner in Dhaka. Later, former Foreign secretary Shib Shanker also informed the same on his visit to Dhaka.
A former intelligence officer Malay Krishna Dhar said, "Sk. Mujib did not pay any attention to the news of his own assassination attempt. Indira Gandhi was also same. Now, the hardliners are trying to hit the liberal democratic system in Bangladesh." Former diplomat G. Parth sarathi said, "Considering the prevalence of terrorism in the region, SH should take further precaution."
An important Daily has said that the Americans had prior intelligence on Mujib killing, but they did not inform him about it. In 1975, the then eastern zone RAW Chief Fanindranath Bannerjy used to keep contact with the US intelligencies.
Only 5 days after the death of Mujib, SH came to Delhi with her husband, sister, son and daughter. But, she went back to Dhaka as a leader on May 17, 1981, when all powerful Gen. Ziaur Rahman was the ruler. But, because of her popularity, he had to accept her.
She told a public meeting, "I want justice from you. People who came to power by killing others cannot just bring any good to the country. It will be another revolution when the killers of Mujib are brought to justice." Now, it seems that the current attacks have been planned even before the supreme court verdicts were given. Many Hasina associates are now being targetted.
In a situation like this, FM Dipu Moni came to Delhi and made Delhi-Dhaka relationship one step closer. SH herself will be visiting Delhi on dec. 19. Indian Foreign Secretary Nirupoma rao has already visited Dhaka to complete preparatory works on this visit. SH has said that she will not make any compromise with the Mujib killers. Also, Delhi has promised all assistance to find out the remaining criminals.
Anand Bazaar wrote that, in a similar manner, the Indian intelligence had also sent message to Dhaka before Mujib was killed. Bangabondhu himself had known about the caution. Indira Gandhi had sent this message to him through Fanindranath. He not only cautioned Mujib, he also cautioned all his close family members. But, Mujib was not worried.
When he was taken to the Shahiwal jail in Pakistan and was given a death sentence by a martial law court, Mujib said, " I could have fled to any place of my choice. But, how can I leave my countrymen and run away? I am their leader, I will die fighting. But, I cannot run away."
