Confessions of a Privileged Dalit

Not everyone is meant to go to IITs or become a teacher or join a govt job.

Underrepresentation is better than misrepresentation
Why not do land/wealth redistribution before abolishing reservation? Everyone must have equal platform, no reservation and no inherent wealth privilege, right?

As I have explained many times to @jamahir Income inequality is a fact of life. No one can wish it away.

BTW Indira Gandhi did try it using land ceiling act

There are Dalits who own farmhouses and move about in Mercedes and there are brahmins who cant get 2 meals a day.

Name me one country where there is no income inequality.

I am not asking to abolish reservation just reforming it so that it is more representative.

As a community, it will take another 100-200 years for Dalits to come at par with UCs, unless we do major land and wealth redistribution.

But why should we wait for 100 to 200 years ? What magical thing will have happened that is not happening now ?

And 100 to 200 years from now we will have Mars colonies with thousands of people. It will be most embarrassing for India ( if it still exists as a political entity ) to have regressive ideas as caste.

The simplest thing for India would be to adopt communism ( and my presented economic model ) which will remove the current socio-economic problems. This is as simple as every Indian member of PDF spreading the word and other Indians accepting the ideas. This is how all past revolutions have come about.

As I have explained many times to @jamahir Income inequality is a fact of life. No one can wish it away.

But why ? I have told you that it is not written in the night sky that money or income inequality should exist in perpetuity.

Your present model has a lot of holes. Indians as well as Pakistanis have asked questions which you are not able to answer.

If you cant even satisfy a few people on an anonymous forum how can you hope to bring it to millions of people

Answer the questions raised in your thread then we will see

I hope you know that it's an exaggeration. But a funny one, yes.

I'm talking about my personal experience here. I literally encountered '0' caste bias during my school and college days. I graduated in 2018 so I can fairly say I belong to the new young generation. There was no discussion about caste among my friends (it sounds weird to discuss about caste among friends because friends come from across different castes). In fact, I didn't even know what is caste until I first came across reservations during the 10th and 12th State Board exams. So when you say there's no real progress, that's absolutely wrong.

Regarding marriages, I will agree that people still tend to marry within their castes but among my relatives, there is 1 inter-caste marriage. There was some opposition initially, yes but it was resolved later.

Bro, you need to understand why people hate reservation. It's not because they hate Dalits or anything. For them, their progress gets impeded because of reservation and thus the backlash against it. People tend to get disappointed when they don't get their dream branch or dream college, right?

My personal opinion is that reservation should continue until the Dalit per capita income reaches at par or almost at par with the UCs. I think this may take another 2-3 decades yet.

People hated reservation but loved it when UC got 10% reservation? The IITs which had for years didn't implement the 27% OBC reservation, notified the 10% reservation in minutes.

Why not reverse the resource collection then? Swap UCs and Dalits properties and you will maintain your "fact your life" too, fair deal?

A UC earned what he did through his hard work. Why give it to someone who hadn't earned it

10% reservation was cheered because it was on economic criteria.

Make everything based on economic criteria. Your contention is that SC/ST cant compete because they are poor. Lets make reservations on economic criteria and they will still get the reservation

Minus their life's earnings, fair deal now?

.
I think what @Soumitra mentioned about reservation being based on economic criteria sounds fair. Or maybe there could be some space for a combination of economic criteria and other factors.

The drawback to economic criteria though is that people will understate their earnings, so corruption will be involved.

Not only poor. Reservation was brought not to give economic upliftment. But for social upliftment. Understand the difference. To this day, an SC/ST officer cannot marry an FC, BC caste brides without issues. Moreover this issue is bigger than marriage etc. But representations. Even when OBC got reservation jobs, they didn't get promotions due to cartelisation of top level jobs by UCs. There was no to less representations of officers belonging to lower castes at Secretariat levels at Central and state levels. How did that happen? IIT/IIM professors are purely 100% UCs. Do you mean to say that rest of the population are idiots?

As for UC earned through hard work, it's the case for everyone. Most of the UC are in urban areas. Why don't they study in govt schools and prove their mettle? Why they have to study hard in private schools? And why can they study there? Cos they are well off historically than deprived class. Now don't bring me the arguments of poor among UC. Yes there are. But sadly in a democracy, laws will be implemented for the benefit of 90 people in a 100.

The govt even made comical on the UC economic criteria. I mean 5 acres of land, 1200+ sqft of houses in city areas and min 10 lakh income per annum puts salts on the wounds on really poor UC.

I was telling exact this thing to @Cliftonite @letsrock other day. Caste is graded inequality, if you remove the topmost column, the remaining structure remains intact.

It does - the top most is the one which does it most and once it is removed the rest are easy. But if you go after middle or bottoms most you will go nowhere.

OBC have been completely shafted by INdia. Dalits alteast have a voice. OBC are splintered and voiceless. If you remove delhi and its shenanigans OBC's do have a chance. iF tamil nadu were its own nation - how in the heck can brahmins dominate ?

Lol. Let me rephrase it to you. Inside my nation we might have differences. Mostly the views are the best ways to advance faster. One group days this is the way, another says this is the fastest way. The end goal of both groups is the same, development of India.
But we Tamilians nor anyone won't allow disintegration of India or even for such talks. The political parties are now represented by OBCs. Its a myth they don't have a voice cos OBC or even Dalits is not a single caste entity. They are grouped into one entity for administrative purposes. I am really glad we aren't a separate nation. We don't really need your advice on how we need to govern ourselves.

Yes you will enjoy the madrasi contempt with which any average north indian holds you while collecting your taxes. And india must be defended like some idol in a temple because otherwise its "paavam". The idol grants only brahmin the right to service it and profit from it and but all the funds and labor to build the temple comes from other castes. But you wont allow anyone to question it because adey adey its paavam.

@Arulmozhi Varman you will never ever get better with hindia hanging on your heads. A second class citizen is a second class citizen no matter his per capita gdp.
