Computers stolen from Pakistan’s Dhaka mission

Let's hope nothing sensitive was on the computers. Otherwise we know for a fact our people wouldn't have taken any basic security measures. I bet even the passwords are 123456

Passwords can not stop anyone. ye to dil ka behlawa hai...

Idiot, this happened in your country and it was your responsibility to provide security...so it is your failure.

Embassy compound is essentially sovereign territory of Pakistan and its internal security is its affairs to handle.

Its why US and USSR didn't go about accusing each other (openly) of failing to provide security whenever there was some systems breach/theft at their respective embassies.

Physical security of diplomats (and various levels of protection from local prosecution) are the only things guaranteed at absolute level in geneva charter (from the host nation)....it doesnt apply to materials, equipments etc...which the embassy (Foreign office etc) will have to invest in to protect themselves.

.
It could be an inside job. Given the state of economy in Pakistan and Imran Khan's austerity drive many are facing hardship. It could be an act of some mid or low ranking embassy staff facing economic crisis back home in Pakistan. Otherwise why Pak embassy taken so long to lodge this protest and not revealing the CCTV footage?
I mean no offence but do tell what part of your body where you using when you thought these words of wisdom?

.
RAW must have offered some Bengalii Mooochi(COD) and chips in return for these computers. Thus, it proves two points. First, the lack of security and second, the host nation was a cheap sell out.

Seriously I.K can in my view, start new chapter here....by making Beijing (or U.S or whoever) embassies of the two countries responsible as charge d'affaires for any lingering bilateral contacts needed. There is large invested diplomatic corps there by both to begin with...and just can be augmented as needed for extra duties.

This is all now just senseless beating around the bush and is actually harming relations even worse....when simply it can be policy of "don't care, talk to the hand" and allow relations to just stagnate at a level for some time.
If only the relevant folks were listening.Kudos bhai

Well, both the embassy and the local police or security agency have separate CCTV networks and normally latter's security cameras are located outside the building and can easily watch who entered or left the building.

CCTV wires and telephone lines will be cut off first. Even the chaurs in Dhaka have full detection capability for wi-fi signal from CCTV cameras (if wireless), to say nothing of RAW agents. They will make sure nothing suspicious is visible on CCTV cameras or be out of visual range. This was not foisted by Gau-Murkh idiots.

Bangladeshi govt. allowed it probably with full knowledge, but this has 'RAW' operation written all over it. By the way,
  • You can easily retrieve information from deleted portion in hard disks.
  • I hope the disks had DoD level encryption, even then passwords can be guessed and encryption broken
  • Going by usual govt. worker intelligence level, we are probably giving Pakistani High Commission staff too much credit anyways.
But I honestly doubt HC staff left any 'gems' in computers for RAW to discover.

Ultimately - Bangladesh govt. is responsible for preventing burglaries at embassies and HC's, it is a sacred reciprocal right granted by accord with Pakistan for their HC.

btw @Homo Sapiens @bluesky @Bilal9 @Species @Al-Ansar @Michael Corleone @UKBengali @monitor you guys know anything about that?

According to classified reports, your computers were running windows 98.

. C'mon Man - Windows 98 was one of the most stable versions....kinda like Windows 7 nowadays. I have seen people who resisted upgrading, until Windows 7 came out.

Excellent analysis buddy and I agree RAW is written all over it but definitely it was supported by Bd govt, at least some elements of it.

It seems a false flag operation by pakistanis.

If you've informed our police, then I'm sure they would look at it. If this is a drama, then I don't know. Your embassy guys can easily share their CCTV footage, can't they? Or is it for some unknown reason, they were not recording?

First PC here was my dad's 286 with DOS and Win 3.1 on it lol.
I see, you are a man of ancient times.

Providing security to foreign Diplomats is the duty of host nation, hence Bangladeshi authorities have failed miserably in their responsibilities.
I highly doubt that any sensitive material would be left unattended in a country like Bangladesh which is currently just an extended state of India.
They themselves have voluntarily turned into Termites under India!!!! What the heck can they do for others?????

Bangladeshi intel stole them.
Read RAW....
