Complete List of MRAPs, APCs & IFVs under used by Pakistan Military

Inventory:

- Textron Commando (U.S.A)
- Buffalo EOD (U.S.A)
- Cougar JERRV (U.S.A)
- MaxxPro (U.S.A)
- BTR-70/BTR-80 (Chinese/Russian)
- Lazar 2 MRAV (Serbia)
- Talha APC (Pakistan)
- M113 (U.S.A)
- Al-Saad (Pakistan)
- WZ551 UN-Pakistan Mission (China)
- Dragoon (Pakistan)
- Talha - Other versions (Pakistan)
- Land Cruiser Based AV (Pakistan)
- Muhafiz (Pakistan)
- Raad (Pakistan)

Coming Soon

- Uqaab APC (Pakistan)
- VN-01 IFV (China)

This list is not accurate. If you are looking solely at the PA then the M113 and its variants make up the bulk of the APC inventory. Al Talha's was never inducted by the PA as they went for the superior Al Saad. Al Talha is mainly for export as is Al Saad. The Sakb is a command vehicle for the armoured formations and Raad is for recon. Sakb has been inducted but the status of Raad is unknown. Both are based on the Talha/Saad chassis which in turn is based on the M113 chassis. Al Qaswa is a tracked logistics vehicle which in turn is based on the same chassis. As such the logistics chain for maintaining and supporting these vehicles is the same one for the M113 hence keeping costs down.

Textron Commando is not being inducted or produced locally. A small batch of Dragoons have been acquired off the shelf for the ASF. HIT intends on local assembly for force protection and to assist in protection of stationary assets. The PA has not placed any orders nor have any of the LEAs apart from the ASF.

The only MRAP inducted to date is the MaxxPro and 180 are due to be inducted in the PA.

Lazar 2 has been acquired by Sindh Police and not the PA. Muhafiz are currently operated by the LEAs and not the PA.

BTR 70s are primarily utilised for UN missions by the PA. No firm orders have been placed for Uqaab, VN01 or WZ551

These are excellent additions to the Pakistan Army ! Great pictures !

.
All look pretty cool but the Muhafiz doesn't look like it can take too much punishment. Looks very cheap.

Noticed the Otokar Cobra isn't mentioned here so here are some pics...

Any armored vehicle that is hit by a single, modern anti-armor missile, will cripple. There is no armored vehicle out there that needs two hits to go down. The purpose of these vehicles, unlike tanks, is not to provide heavy armor support but to be able to transport large number of armored infantry that can dish out more damage to regular infantry. Tanks are used for the purpose which you stated and criticized about.

@PakArmyFTW

You can't compare Muhafiz to Otokar Cobra, both different role models.

Primary use for Muhafiz -------> POLICE
Primary use for Otobkar Cobra -------> Army

Someone should have pointed that out before that the Muhafiz is used for police primary. The thread title is, "Complete List of MRAPs, APCs & IFVs used by Pakistan Military." Why is the Muhafiz listed then?
Tell that to the Police Officers who survived a Suicide blast thanks to this "CHEAP LOOKING" bit of Kit!
It's great they survived but I'm gonna need a source to go with that picture. I say it's cheap because after reading this article... Search up "Bullet-proof cars became death traps in May 2012 operation."

Not only that but it just doesn't seem capable in regards to the armed forces. VelocuR pointed out it's used by police forces so for them I guess it works.

1. Here is a source related to the incident and the names of the surviving officers are included in the list:
#Peshawar #suicide #blast claims 9 innocent lives – Daily Messenger

2. Regarding the 2012 operation, it was irresponsible journalism at best by the News, The muhafiz that were used in that operation provided level B6 / NIJ ;Level III protection, using a 6mm steel armor sheet, the suspects used RPGs, Hand Grenades, Armor Piercing Rounds and "Anti Aircraft Guns", in the assault, the vehicles armor is not designed or rated to provide protection against these weapons. Ref: Without armour: Waiting on new APCs while bullets pierce through old ones – The Express Tribune

Even the M113 based APC will not provide protection against a steel penetrator as proved by the damage shown to this Punjab Police APC:

Image01-640x480.jpg

Image03-640x480.jpg

The New Muhafiz is rated to provide T7 level protection with a 9mm armor sheet which is the minimum required based on the threats faced by our law enforcement in Pakistan.

----
As the bellow list will show, even the T7 rated APCs currently in service with the Sindh, KPK and Punjab police only provide single shot protection from Armor Piercing rounds:

Well, the OP who created "iForceWarfare" fanboy just added all the pictures randomly, it doesn't mean all of these vehicles are used in Military only. Also recent IDEAS2014 was displayed both Military and Police latest inventories.

We have been little improved in progress from cheap truck to average better quality vehicles like Muhafiz

@RescueRanger

Damn, that APC really got hit.

Thanks for the link and the data sheet.

I saw that news article but it says nothing about police surviving or anything--just says the explosion took place near the police APC.

@VelocuR

"iForceWarfare fanboy" HAHAHAAHAHA

I agree with you. The Police really needs to be armed better. Those armored police trucks are total beast, they can be of really some benefit.

The police forces in the U.S. are so beefed up. With the 1033 program $5.1 billion worth of military grade hardware has and is being transferred to local police forces. Hell, just look at the "police officers" in Ferguson--they look like soldiers going into combat.

I would beg to differ.Muhafiz is under PA use. There is one patrolling around GHQ all the time you can see for yourself if you happen to pass GHQ

It's in the opening paragraph:
" Among the injured were sub-inspector Bukhari Shah and two other policemen."

Those pictures you post are misleading, every army, police and law enforcement agency in the world have soft skin and armored vehicles that are used depending on the risk assessment of warrant / duty execution. That Toyota Truck you posted is not poor, it is the work horse of the police and is loving referred to as the "dala" by Punjab Police,

With the induction of more advanced vehicles comes the issue of maintenance and operation, Motor Pool and MT is stretched to it's limit in cities like Karachi and Lahore, are you honestly suggesting that inducting high maintenance armored vehicles will solve the problem?

What is the point of having equipment that you cannot maintain? White elephant much?
