General Abdel Moneim al-Taras, commander of the Air Defense Forces said: "Egypt has the latest and most complex missile system in the world..The Egyptian genius lies in the optimal use of our weapons."

...

Scientific research is of utmost importance for the future and nations are measured by their interest in scientific research. The Commander of the Air Defense Forces revealed how scientific research is used in the development of weapons and equipment in the Air Defense Forces. "At the beginning I emphasize that we are interested in all areas of scientific research, It can be used in the development of our weapons and equipment. The Air Defense Force has a technical research and development center, which is responsible for modernization and development and to add the required modifications to the air defense equipment, drawing on the expertise of "engineering officers, technicians and equipment users" Research samples and their implementation in practice starting with laboratory tests, then field tests to determine their suitability for actual field use by air defense fighters. "

He added: "The Technical Research Center is developing air defense equipment through integrated stages with the aim of using modern technology and taking advantage of the latest scientific techniques to improve the performance of air defense equipment, in addition to close cooperation with various technical research centers in the armed forces to study the problems of the use of weapons Equipment and best solutions. "

He continued: "As for the means of strengthening the scientific research areas of air defense officers, they are many of which the College of Air Defense holds many seminars and lectures in which the participation of civil professors from Egyptian universities of various disciplines, as well as participate in seminars held by the Military Research Commission and Nasser Military Academy And to strengthen the scientific research, air defense officers are sent abroad to share the knowledge and know-how between us and other countries and obtain advanced degrees "Masters, PhD" to keep abreast of the latest in science in the countries of the world.

...

He added: "When we talk about the combat readiness of the air defense forces, we are talking about the permanent and continuous goal of these forces, so that they can be able day and night in peace and war and under various circumstances to carry out their tasks successfully, and achieve the high and permanent readiness of combat through a set of determinants, In circumstances and situations of the forces, and are based on very precise calculations and standards in order to provide the necessary time for the transfer of forces to carry out its tasks in a timely manner."

He continued: "The constant combat readiness is maintained through continuous information on the enemy, the precise organization of the means of transportation, the readiness of the main command centers, reciprocal management of combat operations and the maintenance of the technical proficiency of weapons and equipment. All these elements are carried out within a framework of complete military discipline, The participation of elements of the Air Defense Forces in assisting the rest of the General Command of the Armed Forces in securing the home front and the democratic transformation of the State is one of the secondary tasks carried out by the Air Defense Forces without prejudice to its principal task of securing and protecting the sky on all the different strategic directions of the State."

In general, we will mention the advantages of the Egyptian Air Defense Force:

The Patriot Pack 3 and The S-300VM are not the only latest systems of the Egyptian Air Defense.. Egypt has complete systems on all ranges and altitudes from more than one source,
All of which are the most superior in their class..

Integrated Russian system

Long-range air defense: S300 VM "the second best Russian air defense after the S-400"
Mid-range air defense: Buk m1-2 and Buk m2 "Best Russian air defense system medium range"
Short-range air defense: Tor m1 and Tor m2 "Best short range Russian air defense system"
Air defense shoulder-portable : Igla "the best Russian air defense manpad system"

Integrated American system

Long-range air defense: Patriot pac 3
Mid-range air defense: Hawk phase 3
Short-range air defense: Avenger, Chaparal
Air defense shoulder-portable : Stinger

Integrated Soviet system

Long-range air defense: Sam 2 Volga with upgraded/modernized range and warhead
Mid-range air defense: Pechora m2 and Sam 6
Short-range air defense: Sam 9
Air defense shoulder-portable : Sam 7

Different European systems

Short-range air defense: Crotale and Sky Guard

This is for the advanced technologies quality ..If we look at the quantities, it is truly impressive

Egypt has more than 200 units of the Pechora M2 system, for example..and this is only one system out of more than 15 systems..

Pechora-M2

"Upgrading ADMS "Pechora-1" up to "Pechora-2" provides for increasing performance of the complex to ensure a successful struggle with modern means of air attack in a difficult jamming environment through the use of technology and the base elements S-300 PMU1."
http://www.snariad.ru/pvo/pecera

It was also supplied with " KRTZ-125/2M " EW system and "Laser/Ir-Tracking" a "Radio Silent Tracking" system and also a "Daylight TV Camera" to counter Anti-radar missiles and jamming..

The radars of the Pechora M-2 system are a very respectable variety of radars:

1 - P-15 or "M1-Flat Face" radar for interception and aerial surveillance of up to (150 km).

2 - M2-Squat Eye radar with a range of about 128 km.

3 - Low Blow radar, a fire control radar and missile guidance radar within a range of 29 to 40 km, and with a tracking range of about 85 km. In addition to having TV cameras to guide the missiles to a distance of (25 km) in the case of an intensive electronic jam, and this radar can track (6) targets at the same time.

Egyptian air defense operates on the principle of cross-sections..These regimes not only cover Egypt..These systems cover the skies of Egypt more than once in intersecting circles..
You will find Each circle protected by several long, medium and short-range systems..All of which are of different ranges, frequencies and countries of origin..So, the possibility of jamming all of them at the same time falls within the realm of the impossible..

On the issue of complexity I will give the example of the early detection network that is comprised of:
The APS-145 + TPS-59 + SPS-48 + TPS-43 + TRS-2100 + TPS-63 from US and UK..
P-14 + P-18 + P-40 + High Screen + Billboard + P-12 + P-15 + 9S36 + 9C18M from Russia..
And YLC-6 + FD-2000 from China..

You will not find this mix in any other country, especially the Billboard, 9S36, 9C18, the Russian SPS-48LGR, the US TPS-59 and the FD-2000 specific to the Chinese HQ-9.

There are also other Egyptian Radars:

The JY-11, the JYL-1, the POST-3 and the LION-S the British.. the most important one is "POST-3M" after the upgrade, reaches 800 kilometers, it is a passive radar.. there is also the "TPX-46A (V) 7 " with a range of 370 km, that is working with the PATRIOT and Hawk missiles..

* The Egyptian air defense network consists not only of missile and anti-aircraft artillery systems, but also of command and control stations and early warning stations consisting of early warning radars and aerial surveillance of various altitudes, high, medium, low and very low altitudes, large wavelengths and passive surveillance radars that tracks stealth aircrafts, Observation points (electrostatic and thermal systems), EW stations, electronic jamming, signal and wireless communications, Electronic and radio stations, and all the above are fully linked and integrated into the C4I network.. Which is of western origin and thus more capable of integrating Eastern and Western air defense systems into a single network that can be managed from anywhere. Egypt manufactures parts of this network, especially the EriTacLTs. The complexity of the Egyptian network is that it contains American, French, British, Chinese and Egyptian radar systems, and multi-source missile batteries. The network is also complemented by the AEW & C Airborne Early Warning & Control fleet, ISR Intelligence, Surveillance & Reconnaissance, Electronic ECM Electronic Countermeasures / Radar Jamming / Jamming Deception of E2C Hawkeye-2000 aircraft, the Beachcraft 1900C and EC-130H Compass Call , plus the Mk.2E Commando and Mi-8MV helicopters..

I do not think the Egyptian military is that advanced.
Although the Egyptian desire to have an advanced military is admirable.

On what are you basing your assumption?
Egypt was manufacturing warplanes and air to air missiles in the 60s.. today they produce much of the needed weapons and the rest is bought.. sometimes with ToT like the Gowind frigates.. Egypt makes the M1A1 Abrams own version at home and much more than that.. even Egyptians do not know about..Egypt does not have a very advanced technological base for modern fighter planes.. but for the rest it has quite an advanced and sophisticated military.. it is also concentrating a lot on R&D..

The only performing missile system that Egypt has is what the Russians transferred to them lately..The rest is old and is irrelevant against modern fighters..
Forget about the American PAC systems, they have no such a thing.

.
When it comes to Air Defense systems and their induction both Algeria and Egypt are doing great. They are getting more and more Air Defense systems like PANTSIR and BUK and Tor and HQ-9 and others. Pakistan also doing good but Muslim countries like Indonesia and Malaysia seriously lack in this field

Great post, SC, bro. Thanks for taking the time to put all of that together. There's quite a bit going on and that's only what we know of.

The success of the Egyptian Air Defense command during the war of attrition and then the remarkable record of Israeli jets shot down in 1973 has made this sector of the Egyptian Armed Forces quite important, and ever since then, it's matured in many ways.

I think the acquisition of the TOR and BUK systems has really given them quite a bit of flexibility, and the S-300VM's integration will expand even more in the next couple of years.

As far as the PAC III system, there's always been the rumor that it exists in the EADS but we've yet to see it. The same applied to the ground-launched AIM-120 that was reported to be in several units since it was denied as a A2A system for the F-16s, but purportedly supplied as a ground system, yet we've never seen its presence either.

Lately there's been a lot of emphasis on surveillance and EW that I think we will be seeing some new stuff in the next couple of years, especially once the new MiG-35s arrive in larger numbers. Should be fun.

There is a big difference between Egypt and Algeria in the Air-defence capabilities and complexity.. the main and most important one is the Egyptian C4i which is Western with Egyptian made components.. Egypt can integrate both Western and Eastern systems on it, while Algeria's one is of Eastern origin and thus they can not integrate Western systems on it.. this makes a huge difference..

Long-range air defense: Patriot pac 3 :disagree:
Apparently there are 2 patriot pac-3 batteries in Egypt.. I can not confirm it though, but it seems to be known by some military people.. remember that it took 8 years before showing the Tor or the Buk..latest versions..

I would like to face these military people someday especially air defense guys @Frogman :azn:

.
It is mainly due to Integrated Eastern and western systems by the C4i system that includes Egyptian components.
