What's new

CIA sensed Bangladesh independence was inevitable.

.
Well take india out of that equation and there is nothing left,if there would have been no Indian support there wouldn't have been any Bangladesh.Bangladesh is nothing just a trophy of Indians
This is just your sweeping statement devoid of any reality and not to be taken seriously.

I would take you people's seriously when after 1971 you killed Bangbandhu why?because he did worst for you till 5 millions died due to his policies and you are only nation in planet who crushed your founder under tank chains, and now you are glorifying him, fact is that Bangbandhu is need of hour to show your legitimacy to your self,Bangladesh is nothing just an Indian dream and Bangala nationalism is a joke of century.
Tell why there are more Bengali prostitutes and odd workers in foreign then another country.

What was the point of war when Bangalis were undermined then and still undermined. The then president Nixon said something along the lines of "The Bengolis are not a fighting people"....Cough. One of my family members were killed by a Pak army member and if I remember the stories correctly the mukti fauj was formed from local villagers who had no external influence such as Indian training or Indian arms. I will admit
8 months is too early to achieve any concrete result in guerrilla ware fare.Algerian needed 12 years to drive out the french and Vietnam needed 19 years to finally defeat the US force.Up to May,1971 many entire districts were under Mukti Bahini control which lost after Pakistani reinforcement and counter attack.Mukti Bahini activities slowed down due to monsoon period from June to September. But they retain many pocket within East Pakistan in their control not necessarily entire district.Districts were very large in that period.Entire East Pakistan was divided in only 19 districts. From October,Mukti Bahini attack intensified on Pakistani position and Mukti Bahini started to destroy the communication system in East Pakistan for the preparation of long term war.Like the Vietcong guerrilla they adopted a three stage warfare strategy.Mukti Bahini was barely at the beginning of first stage.Even minimum combat training require 6-12 months period.0.2 million figure is mostly trainee, not actual troops.Pakistani army would not have survived 1972,1973 with fighting Mukti Bahini. But India was too restless to finish the war and claim victory. After all rewards was too immense to ignore it for a long time.

What do the PA forces or even IA forces know about operating and being mobile in monsoon time? I'm taking a guess at zilch.

"CIA sensed Bangladesh independence was inevitable. "

Isn't rocket science.

Here we have a poor country (Pakistan) consisting of two parts which are separated by 1000KM or so by a large and the worst adversary (India) who is actively financing, arming, training terrorists in one part.

And who is naturally not allowing any reinforcements from one part to reach the other.

Even the most of the advanced nations would struggle to keep those two parts together as one under such circumstances.

Besides it was a miracle that East Pakistan and West Pakistan could act as one country for more than twenty years. It should have been two separate countries from day one!

.
I still don't understand why Pakistan has so many terrorists?Pls elaborate...
Why Pak army likes to rape?I thought Islam prohibits it!

One word: Propaganda.

Just like now AL wants the world to believe in God knows how many million causalities of imaginary "genocide" committed by PA.

Granted there might have been isolated cases as you have pointed out (and do not ignore that a lot of Indian trained Mukti terrorists were als posing as PA). But the exaggeration is pure Hasina propaganda.

At the end of the day people are just humans. If everyone practiced the religions they believe in with its true spirit, there wouldn't be any murderers, rapists, criminals in this world.

The President's Daily Brief

16 March 1971

FOR THE PRESIDENT ONLY

PAKISTAN

According to one of Mujib's advisers, the East Pakistani leader intended to urge President Yahya, during discussions between the two in Dacca, to turn over power in East Pakistan to Mujib's Awami League immediately. Mujib also planned to demand the withdrawal of troop reinforcements sent to East Pakistan in the last few weeks. Should the military attempt to use force, Mujib plans to proclaim independence.

Yahya will be reluctant to agree to such actions. On the other hand, he will find the alternatives—East Pakistani secession or a costly and probably futile effort to hold the country together by force—just as unpalatable.

Meanwhile, there has been no central government response to Mujib's latest move toward complete independence for East Pakistan. The 35-point directive that Mujib issued yesterday essentially clarifies and amplifies actions to be taken under the noncooperation movement he launched on 7 March. If and when implemented, the actions would put Mujib in effective control of East Pakistan's government.

Yahya
