Chinese Viewers Can't Get Enough of Indian TV Shows

One Indian production that Chinese should be more familiar with is the 2030 superpower video. Actually, more Americans should watch that video to show that Indians want to make white people servants.
That is the most watched by Chinese on Internet. I m looking to buy the full movie but cannot find it

.
Ok its a propaganda thanks for supporting it, later. Btw happy for Dangal opening maybe it will surpass PK record in China. And bollywood is a number game rather quality due to huge population comprising other SA countries too so don't compare with hollywood.

why the strawman?

i was talking about the article implying that Bollywood is popular in various Sinitic societies,

Already Bollywood movies are very popular across South East Asia. Shahrukh Khan is very popular in Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and other countries. China is the next logical destination,”

I know full well myself whether this 'shah ruk khan' or any other bollywood actors/actresses are indeed popular or not here in Singapore, Taiwan, Hongkong and China. Im not interested to know whether bollywood is indeed popular in all other places.

Sure, once in awhile, maybe a huge well-funded and well-marketed blockbuster might hit the entertainment news or headlines online- but that's about it. Bollywood will find followers in bollyphiles anywhere around the world- not just in china, but here im talking about the average Chinese who are waaaayyyyyy more likely to chase after hits by South korean boy bands, movies done by Hong kong actors/actresses and songs by Taiwanese singers than the hardly-heard of bollywood here(Sinitic countries)- anytime of the day.

*PS until today, i still have the impression even today that Bollywood films involve all that excessive dancing around trees/plantations- instilled in my head from those few shows/dramas i've watched as a child with with my maid.

TV shows, especially based on Hindu mythology from India, are becoming popular among Chinese on the internet. Not only that, a lot of young Chinese have volunteered to write subtitles for these shows, helping them further expand their outreach to a larger audience.
New Delhi (Sputnik) — Indian Hindi soap operas such as Naagin, Devon Ke Dev… Mahadev, the 2013 series based on Mahabharat and Buddha-Rajaon Ka Raja have become the new rage among Chinese online viewers. In fact, the first four episodes of the second season of Naagin had almost 200,000 views on China’s widely used video-sharing website Bilibili, according to a Global Times report.

Yang Buhui, 29, started her own group last year and works in the gaming industry and is fascinated by Indian mythology and philosophy. Yang loves Devon Ke Dev… Mahadev.

“Indian mythology itself is just fascinating. Its philosophy and worldview, which are very exotic, have been a wonderful new world to me. I love the drama because it's a key to the world of Indian mythology. Besides, the actors and actresses are not only gorgeous, but their acting skills are good,” the Global Times quoted Yang saying.

While the Indian drama shows were aired on state broadcaster CCTV’s entertainment channel, they were less popular over their US, South Korean or Japanese rival TV series. But Indian TV series are gaining popularity over both different contents as well as looks of actors in the series.

The Chinese audience will soon get a taste of Bollywood movies as well with the Aamir Khan-starred Dangal set to be released this Friday across China. The actor was recently in China to promote his movie and received huge response among local fans.

Bollywood and Indian cinema is the country’s biggest soft power and helps in establishing the brand value of India, says a film and TV ad producer from Mumbai.

“If there is one huge soft power India has, it is Bollywood and cinema. We have seen how the IIFA awards have been doing well at different locations abroad. Already Bollywood movies are very popular across South East Asia. Shahrukh Khan is very popular in Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and other countries. China is the next logical destination,” Anupam Shukla, Director, P & A Media Ventures Private Ltd, told Sputnik.

Yes, I've always admired India's OEM Art.:-)

I watch anime, korean movies (these guys are seriously good) but chinese movies even with proper talented actors are usually B grade. Of course there are exceptions like crouching tiger hidden dragon etc. but more or less their movies sucks. Its predictable with poor direction and story telling.
One thing i have noted that Koreans make the best movies amongst south asians.

By the way no idea wth wuxia means!

.
indians have been obsessed withChinesee Wuxia serials for decades
I can point out entire communities and groups set up for same purpose

Indian mythical serials however are too much into fantasy and like always stretched for no reason
Even more indians prefer Pakistani serials that are short and realistic

so don't worry, there are always a set of people who like something ... its just your media likes to go gaga over it and make it a big deal ...

Can an indian mythical serial ever beat a Chinese Wuxia? nope .... never

Honestly. What is wuxia ? Never heard of it.

If its good, i would like to watch it.

Their ming vases and diabolically crafted tea pots to poison guests after inviting them is the only chinese art i am aware of.
Ofcourse now a days they have started to heavily finance hollywood studios so there is a deluge of chinese characters in the movies and casting of hollywood big guys in chinese fantasy plots.

Also i disagree with the title of this thread here. There might be a small audience for our dramas (Seriously?) there, but nothing like "chinese can't get enough of these" . Honestly how does one watch "naagin" ! Its tacky as hell.

That is a pretty seedy looking restaurant. Most urban Indians would be horrified to go there. Is that the only one ?

Chinese themed restaurants in India do well, though they are owned by Indians.

just curious- does the inside of the indian bar smell horrible? cos here in singapore, i've been in an indian disco-pub once at the invitation of my indian friends, and the typical indian smell(if you've ever been around indians, u will know what im talking about) almost drove me insane- that lingering odour comming from all that indian smell+ sweat+ alchohol 3in1 concoction was overpowering.

This is my city——Anping County (安平县).

Wuxia means martial arts genre, all the Kung Fu flicks Indians watched from young. My Indian co-workers even knew old flicks from the 70/80's.

Jackie Chan and Bruce Lee are typical Chinese films, made popular by Chinese. Hollywood aren't known for marital arts. Chinese movies are popular worldwide dubbed in many languages.

You can find many Hindi dubbed Chinese films in Youtube and torrent, even the old and obscure ones. Such as these

I watched this a long time ago in Sri Lankan TV
