Haha i lol-ed n realised this article was merely a piece of 'bharati culture is superior' propaganda when i came to the part where it said shah ruk khan (whoever he is) is popular in Singapore.
That title of being 'popular' goes to some south korean star, hong kong actor/actress or taiwanese singer anytime of the day.
This.
The average singaporean knows way more about hollywood than bollywood.
As a kid, I use to watch a few bollywood movies/dramas on our cable tv which my sri lankan maid would discreetly tune into when she didnt had any chores to do.
I rem the shows were always full of ppl dancing sporadically around/behind trees and it(the endless dancing) bores me do much i would often doze off.
Then read original article from global times if you think its a propaganda
Those movies are for kids bollywood has changed since 2015
If this is the Indian s**t the Chinese watch then I am truly sorry for them. Most of them must be having such a low opinion of India based on these shows. I refuse to believe that Chinese shows can be any worse than these.
The sad part is, we have become defined by Bollywood and Saas-Bahu nonsense, whereas fact is that there is a lot of excellent Indie cinema in both Hindi as well as local languages. Same goes for China. They do make some excellent cinema, although they have become synonymous with weird Kung Fu/Wushu movies instead.
I cant comment on whether Chinese are watching Indian serials or not but I seriously doubt Indians know Wuxia. This is the first time I am hearing about it.
There are thousands of Indians on PDF. These are people with internet connction and reasonable grasp of English. It means that they are very well familiar with the culture and programs outside India. I can openly challenge you and @rcrmj to start a poll on PDF among Indians to know what is Wuxia and if any of them have seen it or not
We are very familiar with Jakie Chan and Bruce Lee - propably because they got popular via hollywood.
Wuxia - Never heard of it
one of the best indian movies i like is from south india those epic fights scenes make me laugh soo much one time i saw a hero using a banana to fight a villain and stab him also i believe the robot movie was a great movie with and amazing story wayyy better than raone which came the same year.
but nowadays i belive all the movies have become crap with just the generic good guys saves girl from villas and then they sing bla bla bla. except movies like pk most movies are becoming crap
indian soaps are really cringy more like the dragon ball z episode where a 2 minute event is shown for like three episode and are really cringy .
Bruce Lee
All fake unfortunately , all shows are "fiction"
On a serious side, the only movie i loved is "lunchbox". Is it a bollywood movie @Indian members.
You just reaffirmed the point im trying to make- that bollywood is not popular in Sinic societies as shown by the example that any1 i know and I- ever know enough or am interested to know- how bollywood has changed or evolved. Its hardly even near the level of hollywood.
Hence, your intention in posting this article is merely propaganda(even the choice of wordings you used in the thread title hints of it) along the lines of 'indian soft culture is so powerful that even the chinese we hate, likes/admires it' <= lol.
