While Indian PM Modi addressed BRICS Summit today, the Chinese President Xi Jinping was seen enjoying a cup of tea.
Possibly on intent to send Modi some message.

o_O Why can't you drink water? This is not in Chinese culture.

Water is fantastic....some how doesn't sounds right....besides from LOC to LAC, it's a Pakistani and Chinese game of BAT and CLUB.
We do not have this view in China.

It is normal to drink water when others are talking, and there is no other meaning in China

you don't drink water in cups, glasses are used for water. For tea, there is always a cup, be it traditional without handle or with handle. And tea isn't something new to china, it has been used for centuries.

And I presume officials usually drink water in opaque cups and not transparent glass cups? I have never seen water drunk from non transaparent opaque cups, at least not in any official meeting etc.
Can’t he just be thirsty? Not everything is a friggin affront to India you know.
Agreed. But, we are actually in a mood to troll Indians.

In China,At the meeting, Tea or water is always provided.

This kind of water cup is also standard. While Xi Jinping was speaking, others drank tea too

I think we need to be sensitive towards Chinese culture. We are attaching an interpretation to the actions of the Chinese premier, and many Chinese members who otherwise remain neutral have expressed their distaste towards this interpretation.
